I think Kevin's idea behind pownce was to give a simplistic design to a not so simplistic idea (status' change quite often).
I do believe that Kevin has a great idea, since his initial thought was to make a website where people could "transfer a file from one cube to the other" and so forth.
While I give full credit towards the hard workers putting together facebook applications (like the pownce application), I feel as if it only contributes to the now "clutter" that the twitter apps and other apps add.
It is getting old having 100 accounts of social network usernames scattered accross the internet and having each website trying to link to one another. There is a change in the atmosphere, that is for certain.
