Judging on the video alone...

1. It looks like part of the problem was the actual seating. It was too easy for her to lounge in her seat and for him to be on the edge of his seat.

2. Were they even miked properly? The audio in the video is horrible.

3. Another big problem was the fact that he kept talking to the audience instead of the interviewer. Or maybe that's solely a result of the bad audio + seating.

Those things alone can completely destroy the chance of a comfortable conversation.

Ms. Lacy made herself part of the show rather than interviewing the man of the hour. She has spent the rest of the day doing damage control, but she should just stand up and admit that she was nervous and out of her area of expertise and apologize for losing her cool (NEVER say "Screw you guys" to an audience is the first rule you are supposed to know before you are allowed to be on the "big" stage as the moderator).

I saw a video interview where she blamed the whole thing on her being a "woman who writes about technology" and said because of that she gets a lot so criticism. This fiasco had nothing to do with her being a woman, it had to do with the fact that she blew it.

But alas, she has claimed that this controversy has caused her "Amazon rank" for her book is sky rocketing and she seems thrilled with that.

I am sorry, I was there and it was really messed up. I would have fired Sarah, if I was her boss. It looked like she was not well prepared and half way through, she started marketing her book. I mean, cmon, people paid a lot of money to be there and when you have Zuckerberg, I think she could have at least asked some professional questions instead of talking about how he was sweating when she was talking to him for the first time. I thought Zuckerberg did pretty well. I mean, some of the questions Sarah was asking were confidential financial questions and mostly were plain "stupid". Here is an example - Do you think Microsoft is happy with the ad deal? I mean, why ask Zuckerberg? what did she expect him to say - No? They are unhappy? That question should be directed to Microsoft and not Zuckerberg.

And what's up with her saying "I interviewed Michael Arrington and poured water on him?

She was not direct in her questions, which made it difficult for Zuckerberg to answer her questions directly. There were a number of times, even I did not know what she was asking and eventually prompted Zuckerberg to confront her " You have to ask questions". That was the best moment of the whole 45 minutes. I felt the last 4-5 minutes was the best part of the keynote where audience started asking direct questions. Sarah could have covered a lot of question but instead tried to be really "cool" or didn't know what she was doing. But one thing i know, at the end, the crowd was relieved that Sarah stopped talking and allowed the audience to ask questions. Begs the question, why the heck Sarah was there and will she still have a day job. I mean, this is like Ashley Simpson at SNL.

i had to adjust myself in my seat a few times as the crowd began to heckle her; totally uncomfortable moments. yes, she was throwing up a few softballs to zuckerberg but come on, some in the audience went way overboard and are tactless.

lacy was visibly bothered by the hecklers (negative body language, etc.) and her repeated nancy kerrigan cry of "why, why, why meeeee" only exacerbated the situation. i like lacy, but she's gonna need tougher skin doing interviews in front of hipsters. wanna know how to handle hecklers? check out bill maher.

The problem here is Facebook. Zuckerberg is in control. He needs to realize this. Every time he speaks, it needs to be beneficial for Facebook. He needs to fabricate these interviews to represent Facebook in the best way possible. And if they are not fabricated he has to be impeccable.

One of the biggest issues is that he is the Face of site that is essentially, in the grand scheme of things, revolutionary for being a means of open communication. He needs to represent Facebook in a consistent way. For instance, he should have been outspoken and all over the media saying this and that when the Beacon debacle occurred. But instead he went into hiding. If Facebook is really the open communication platform it is meant to be (yes, yes, of course they won't lead the Data Portability initiative), he must embody it.

Either way, I'm bullish on Facebook in the short-run, but it's not going to be the next Google with Zuckerberg's immature PR moves. He might be able to learn this, he might not. But right now, Facebook has some good direction in the tools and features it develops, but his overall direction for Facebook as a software powerhouse needs to be seen in him every time he speaks.

Hello Lisa,

I think they have a 500 Million contract over 4 years to be the offical search engine plus they make money off the facebook ads. I tried them, but not much leads from them. I think they are the real deal they seem to be more user friendly than myspace and bebo and nexopeia and all those other sites. In my opinion they will get acquired either by microsoft or go public in 2 years.
