Mashable - The Social Media Guide: 2007/06/25/analytics-toolbox/

  • andy · 2 months ago
it is very usefull tool. you can track any action easly. nice explanation
  • allen stern · 2 years ago
    I would add:

    Extreme Tracking:
    http://www.extremetracking.com

    and

    GetClicky:
    http://getclicky.com/8655

GetClicky may be one of the best tools available today. Absolutely brilliant in it's design and usability.

I did an indepth review on five free/almost free tools last november and touched on ET:
    http://www.centernetworks.com/free-almost-free-...

Both tools have awesome visitor tracking and I love that part. The maps, the ip lookups, etc. Critical info in my book.
  • Adam Ostrow · 2 years ago
GetClicky appears to be the exact same thing as Performancing (www.performancing.com) - literally, same exact marketing pages ...
  • Allen Stern · 2 years ago
WOW. So Performancing is rebranding it under GetClicky to attempt to get those who were not so happy with all the Performancing fiasco when it was sold.

Very interesting - good find Adam!

Leaves me a bit annoid frankly, I use getclicky on my sites. Of course I have no less than 10 tools running at once because I am an absolute analytics freak.
  • Sean · 2 years ago
No, you have it all wrong! Read my comment below! Clicky *replaced* the old pMetrics after it was shut down!
  • allen stern · 2 years ago
so performancing went from offering metrics under the old leadership - then went to offering it as a open source, then went to nothing - then went to rebranding clicky?

i could swear the new management made a big deal about their new stats app. never heard a peep about it being a rebrand.

oh well, i haven't been to perf in a long time as it seemed to have lost its value to me once they changed it. and i was a huge supporter under the old management.

    Clicky is the missing link
  • Clicky Netvibes Widget · 2 years ago
If you're new to Clicky, check out this Netvibes widget. You'll be up and peepin your stats in 2.7 minutes

    Clicky Netvibes Widget

  • Clicky Google Gadget · 2 years ago
And here's the Google Gadget for Clicky:

    Clicky Google Gadget

Widget, gadget, whatchamacallit, just pick one... and then try the other.

If you haven't played around with Netvibes or iGoogle, it only takes 2 seconds. You don't have to register or login.

statcounter is very excellent and there is a free version
  • Sean (Clicky) · 2 years ago
That's funny that Clicky wasn't mentioned, because Pete wrote a nice little article specifically about Clicky a few weeks back: http://mashable.com/2007/06/08/clicky/

Oh, and yes, everyone, for the thousandth time... pMetrics is Clicky, Clicky is pMetrics. Licensing! :) http://pmetrics.performancing.com/help/#clicky

Allen: thanks for the nice words. I see you on TechCrunch all the time, glad you enjoy the service.
  • Allen Stern · 2 years ago
Sean - I would make sure you say Clicky is Clicky and pMetrics is rebranding it.

I have used over 200 tools including beta testing the first version of webtrends in 1995, and yours is one of the best.

    Hi there,

interesting blog - I have started to analyze and compare popular web analytics tools on feature basis in order to give some more direction when publishers look for choices.

I'm a webmaster. And this is one of Mashable's greatest post ever.

I'm going to test the apps mentioned; I think this night will be a long long night...
  • Dimitris · 2 years ago
Another service is clicktale.com. I've beta-tested it (but I'm otherwise not affiliated with them) and it looks impressive so far - as I'm sure quite a few of the above options do too. I'm especially fond of heat maps:)
  • Matteo Alessani · 2 years ago
    Great post!
    You have some broken links:

    ClickTracks
    VisitorVille
    MeasureMap
    NedStat
    SPSS
    SiteCounter
    WebAbacus
    WebSTAT
    WebtraffIQ
    Analog
    AWStats

They link to the error page of mashable!
  • Pete Cashmore · 2 years ago
I think they're fixed...let me know if I missed any.

thats pretty cool, but I didn't find yet any solid web-service, which measures Social Bookmarking activity. For example, Backtags and popuri.us are in raw form and give mistakes. Personally I think human nature of bookmarking 'one-day-keep/next-day-delete' - does analysis impossible. Will see. But demand for such service is hanging in the air.
  • calianalyzer · 1 year ago
There are also some amazing specialty analytics tools such as KeyMetric (www.keymetric.net) that finally link offline conversion activity to online sources. They actually track every conversion type, including telephone calls, to the exact ppc keyword and organic search term used to drive the click-through. As a company who relies heavily on phone calls, we would be dead without them!

I would like to suggest Woopra as another analytics tool. Very slick interface and in depth details. Just do a Google search for Woopra and it will show up...don't want to add a link that looks spammy. :)

it would be nice to have rating for open source stats, since I see awstats and Webalizer are the most popular within hosting providers.
  • ildvr · 1 year ago
it seems more simple stats really rules. Example is Clicky. Or Awstats - no web2.0 machinery, clear results.

That's funny since Clicky calls itself "web stats 2.0" and is all over the "web2.0" angle.

This is a great list! Just what I was looking for, we use Google Analytics and it really provides everything you basically need. I wasn't as impressed with the other free websites, they didnt seem to offer as much, which is why it is probably free... I also found this very interesting if you want to track who is clicking on a link you post on Twitter use sites like http://bit.ly/

We developed our own in house. I wanted to be able to track the complete actions of the individual visitor to the site. Now i can track all the actions per IP, and especially if i issue a tracker, it gives me some very good data to work with. The data has been extremely valuable and helpful.
