  • James Mowery · 2 years ago
All for the Mashable readers. Thank you for the appreciation :)
  • Jeff C · 2 years ago
Hmm, I see James has raised the bar yet again, pretty soon, even he won't be able to top himself!
  • James Mowery · 2 years ago
    Gah, I hope I can :)
  • scibiz · 2 years ago
    Great post!!

I hope that I'm going to use them very soon...
  • Tim · 2 years ago
This is a great list and I love how many useful travel sites there are now. If you're a parent, you may find our site a helpful addition to the mix. Parentography, launched just a couple of months ago, features reviews of family-friendly places and trip ideas from other parents as well as the usual mix of social networking features like member profiles, photos, etc.
  • Rosario · 2 years ago
Another travel blogging site is BallOfDirt.com. They allow unlimited videos and photos to be uploaded. And it's organizational system is nice with Journeys and then separate posts per day.
  • Gravitas · 2 years ago
Another site for people interested in bicycle touring is the site www.wheretocycle.com. There you can share information about bicycle touring places and conditions world wide.
  • Jeremy David · 2 years ago
And if you're not planning on traveling any time soon but feel like telling some random kid over the internet where to go and what to do while he's backpacking around the world, check out www.jpony.com.
  • Robert Nagle · 2 years ago
Also, see wikitravel , an invaluable travel resource.
  • Alex · 2 years ago
With some many sites to contribute to, it's hard to decide.
Wikitravel.org is certainly a good place to share your insight and tips, as is virtualtourist.
  • the constant skeptic · 2 years ago
great list, I am traveling soon and I can't wait to check some of these out.
  • Whitney Johnson · 2 years ago
This is really great! Thank you!
  • kmd · 2 years ago
This is indeed a very long list - but cannot be considered anywhere near comprehensive after missing out on one of the most popular and original travel website - www.virtualtourist.com
  • Alison Chandler · 2 years ago
I will second this comment. VT was one of the first social networking sites for travel and is a helpful and active community.
  • Sylvie · 2 years ago
may I suggest my new website, to find and share travel Videos on Google Maps:
    VeniVidiWiki.eu
    br, Sylvie
  • BB · 2 years ago
Nice sites...but please, stop joining the herd that is constantly misusing the word "hacking". This is just travel PLANNING.
  • dan · 2 years ago

  • Carter Nicholas · 2 years ago
Hope you will add TripConnect to your list. TripConnect uses a social networking mechanism to help people get travel advice from a network of friends.
  • bezurk · 2 years ago
Let's try out http://www.bezurk.com, a new site but great potentials
  • Pip Bennett · 2 years ago

CityTherapy is a new online platform & social planning tool for European city life and city travel. The site brings together the 4 pillars of city living, the people, the places, the events and the trips in one connected social network.

CityTherapy allows you to be kept up-to-date where your friends hang out in Europe and which new places (bars, restaurants, shops,…), events, people and trips they have discovered. CityTherapy also makes recommendations through a powerful new logic which takes into account your profile, your friends' profiles and recommendations and the way you browse the system. CityTherapy allows you to find a new friend, as new place, an interesting event, an insider city trip or just a whole -easy to print out- individualised trip schedule for when you are in the midst of exploring the buzz of European city life.

Through the website you can also build and book your trips, create personalised city guides, buy your tickets to a concert or reserve a table at a restaurant.

You can invite your friends, upload your pictures and videos from places/events & trips, and basically plan your social city life and that of your friends with it.

    Great!!
  • Mark likes cheap flights · 2 years ago
I'm downloading that facebook app, looks great. One other site you omitted would be Kelkoo's cheap flights page, its pretty good for the UK if you're looking to compare. I hear they have just lost the contract from AOL to Kayak for their flight comparison service, but that could all change quickly in the heady world of internet serach engines!
  • Ryan Beck · 2 years ago
Speaking of search engines, a new one called ZooMiles.com is set to launch next month and provides users with airline miles for searching. Their tagline is "search the internet, earn free miles". It's powered by Ask.com and the miles earned keep your mileage accounts "active" -- that is, keep your miles from expiring.

The site will initially be accessible via invite only (private beta), but you can request an invitation at: http://www.zoomiles.com
  • balu · 2 years ago
another travel site could be www.airportcitizen.net, though it focuses on a narrow area of airports, and is pretty much in beta phase right now.
  • Marta Strickland · 2 years ago
I'm surprised you didn't include Yahoo! Travel’s Trip Planner (http://travel.yahoo.com/trip)!! I did a test of a few of these so called "trip planning" sites for a vacation I'm taking in the fall, and Yahoo! came out far and above the rest. http://recentlyconsumed.com/2007/07/03/travel-p...
  • Katie · 2 years ago
Great listings. You should also check out www.realadventures.com for unique, unusual, and off the beaten path places.
  • bringsome.com · 2 years ago
And all you travellers... make sure you check www.bringsome.com to see if you can help-out someone getting that forgotten souvenir or their favorite home-country goods they crave for.

bringsome.com is a free service that brings travellers and people in need for their favorite goodies together.

Oh, if you are traveling from Czech Republic to Netherlands and back, please bring me some 'stroopwafels' !
  • Rob Clayburn · 2 years ago
Great list - we've also just launched http://blobble.net a social network based around places, a great way to share and explore your favorite places, feel free to check us out!

    Your forgot a great site!
Just went on a vacation with my family to Orlando using www.tripcart.com. Definatly a site that should be on this list! Great list of places and very easy to use. The itinerary helped me fit Disney, Universal and NASA in a 5 day trip and get the most out of everything!
  • blake · 11 months ago

  • Tania · 4 months ago
These sites are nice but I think the real advantage is when you can compare the prices for your hotel stay. Take a look at the http://hotels.xyshop.co.uk where you can compare prices of hotels from 16 different vendors and soon they will be adding parks, cottages, lodges, boats, citybreaks and villas.
