1) Are they losing their focus?
The answer to that is not necessarily. As they create value in new markets, they expand their ability to offer more exposure to advertisers. It is limited perspective to think that online advertising and offline advertising lines will not continue to blur.
2) Should they use the shareholders money?
There is risk of loss here for investors, but then there is potential for continued gain. Risk and reward is something that investors sign on for as soon as they lay their money down. That is why it is a free and open market.
Go big or go home should be the mentality and if that is too much for an investor then maybe they should reconsider their objectives.
