Too many choices = confusion. Like a previous member mentioned, he would have to sign
with dozens of social media sites to stay connected with different friends as some use FB or
myspace but not twitter. I found a solution called retaggr where you can enter all your profiles
on one site. This has got to be better than surfing across the web to find friends on different sites.

Hah - same here. I was so honored to be allowed to GFC in after months of waiting, and a few hours later I get a second email saying anyone can join.

For those that have implemented a Google Friend Connect community on their site we now have a GFC directory available to list your site and network with other GFC implementers! Add your site to http://gfcdirectory.com. I have implemented GFC on a couple of my sites and like the response so far!

Great to see someone using VIDEO comments!

Curious why more people don't use them? I mean, if MASHABLE readers aren't using Video comments, does that mean theres no way that the 'average Joe' will use them??

We've been developing several Facebook Connect enabled sites and I agree with @Ian above that the value of these types of tools lies in the data and network that comes along with you. It's pretty cool to see what your friends are up to on sites that you normally use and not expect it. For example, today I joined CitySearch (warning: the beta site still needs some work) via Facebook Connect and I was able to see restaurant reviews from a friend of mine that I would never have found on my own. It took me all of two seconds to join and was a pleasant surprise to see some value from my Facebook network vs. the normal dose of silly gifts and quizzes that are thrown at me...

What's important here is the trend. We are moving towards a universal single sign on. Plus, three logins for 30 sites is always better than 30 logins for 30 sites.

The problem with this is so many choices and each site will support different ones. So the bottom line how will this be different. For example some sites will support OpenID, others Facebook, others Google. So essentially you will need an identity on each. So what is the difference exactly.
