The fact they were able to raise another 5 million is amazing considering all the bad press they got in the outset. Maybe it can be a valuable service'

    Somebody thinks so.

Pete, Thanks for taking the time to write this. You have clearly followed our progress quite carefully and this is a thoughtful piece. I do think that what we are doing was very much part of our original plans, but I agree with you that the world focussed on one part of what we enable - self-published listings on blogs to the exclusion of the bigger goal - to bring together, organize and distribute the world's marketplaces. Blogs being a subset of this.

Adding eBay, CafePress and Amazon is great but is also just the beginning. We won't be even close to our goal until every listing service in the 2.5m places in our geo-databse, uses edgeio as a distribution service (not just aggregation note - unlike say GBase). At that time we will be able to help people find everything and anything. I would even include Craigslist in this. edgeio distributes listings and the clicks they generate return to the original publisher. That is why we are a partner not a competitor. edgeio.com is just one distribution endpoint, albeit the first we have provided. And it does not close transactions so any interest in an item has to be acted on at the point of original publication.

Pretty soon we can start the next phase of the goal which is to enable every content publisher to create marketplaces (like Mike's Crunchboard for example) and make them available to our 3000 publishers to list in. When this happens money will begin to flow through the system. Interested in participating in the launch of that?

Anyway, I look forward to following your thoughts on our progress.

BleBla here, live from the front -

Edgeio, perhaps you can answer as you will likely eat their lunch: why must Craigslist look like it was made by usenet dweebs in 1994? Didn't they get funded? WTF? Hey Craiglist dudez - supporting all 42 Lynx and Mosaic users is going to leave you guys an artifact, living history - like butter-churning polygamists in 21st century America or MUDs and nethack in a world of MMORPGs..

Looks certainly count. Craigslist is so ugly and full of spam that I have a hard time using it anymore. You got RSS support for whoever wants just the data, so build a decent website.. let the most reactionary of the nerds use a text-mode rss reader or something. Please? It would be a shame to see you go, you all look so happy. So please make Craigslist not ugly before you lose your entire bank of goodwill and brand awareness to Internet attention-span attrition. And consider retiring the peace-out-dude-i'm-stoned favicon, too.

    Craig: I LIKE YOU
    -BUT YOU SUCK RIGHT NOW-

    This is positive criticism.

    BleBla out!

I believe this one applies "Unless each man prodiuses more than he receives, increases his output, there will be less for him than all the others", doesn't it?
