I am not certain that LinkedIn users and MySpace users are the same community. MySpace does not fit a lot of people's profile, and tastes for that matter. It suffers from major 'unusability' and I think that it will eventually be outwitted by something cleaner like TagWorld.

And I agree with you, collecting and sharing is not about upselling. Image trying to push TV or a book on your circle of friends. Does not sound right.

Hi Pete, I really enjoy your insightful posts over here half an earth away :) Thanks for great posts. I can't agree with you more on the right motivations that can get people into social networking; attention to themselves, and desire for getting connected to others. Evidence: Korean Cyworld.

    Chang,

Yeah, I guess what I'm really trying to say is that the currency of social networks is attention, rather than money.

    hey pete,

most of your blogs are spot on, but i'm not sure i agree with you on this one. after having really gone through panjea, it looks like this site is the first site to show us a glimpse of what's possible when you combine the best elements of what people love and need into one simple one-stop solution. i'd say their biggest shortcoming is that they don't clearly explain all the things they do, and what you can really use the site for. i agree, selling videos to your friends isn't what it's about. however, there are professional artists who do sell their videos - go check out itunes.

this is the first site that i've found that combines social networking with the commerce elements - i can sell my songs directly from the media player... and i can set my own pricing! not even itunes let's you do that.

it looks like these guys have just launched, so they're obviously going to improve on a bunch of stuff, hopefully messaging. but, given everything panjea does, and stacking it up against all the other social networking, commerce, and personal broadcasting sites out there, this is the fist one to take it to the next level - from design/interface to functionality.
