I was in India beginning of Summer and it happened to me.
This was on Hulu! But they were kind enough to place a form asking me to select my country and include my email address to be notified as soon as the service becomes available.
Simple, forward thinking!...Some folks miss it and in due course of time they'll lose.
Until then, go to xroxy.com, select a valid US proxy address, add it to Firefox and enjoy watching your videos/accessing US sites etc etc :D
On a side note, a site should keep its number of users to the possible minimum - I manage to save myself the trouble of serving around 30,000 additional daily users by simply blocking and redirecting to "parking" pages with automated ads, because advertisers on my sites shouldn't pay for visitors which have low conversion rates, and I shouldn't pay for additional servers to handle an additional million users a month.
Cheers
All we hear is global this, global that. The one place global should really mean something is online. The web is a great equalizer, as long as you don't want something under an outmoded copyright system.
The reason I get upset is that I lived in the UK for three years. I got hooked on a couple of BBC shows which are usually shown online during their initial run on the Beebs. I can't watch them in the US. I get blocked.
I would be willing to pay a reasonable international web license to get these shows, so as not to be unfair to the British public which is forced by law to pay the TV license, but no such program exists. Go figure.
It is even more insane when you figure that the solutions almost always include added revenue generation for the copyright holders. Since when did BBC, or MTV, or any company, turn down added revenue streams?
Crazy.
Cheers,
Eban
Also, the nicest "You can't watch this video because of where you live" is the Adult Swim one, which is "Hello International Buddy!" and then goes on to say how much it sucks. :)
Anyway, I know you're reader base is huge, so thanks to Stan for writing this.
More legal BS. Ridiculous.
Best always,

and yes MTV sucks. It's played out like a sponsored whore moan.
They were streaming that stuff domestically, but coz I was in another country, no soup for me.
C'mon pookie -- let's burn this motherfucker down!
And @modemlooper clearly this post doesn't suck - it has lots of comments from other people who've had the same experience. It may not affect you, but that doesn't make it some obscure thing that only has relevance on a personal blog.
I've done all the subscribe process, entered my visa (wich is issued from a French Bank), filled my cart with lots of movies... checked out... then got blocked because of my IP and some silly people.
The Movie and Music Industry is so... what could we say... is just able to claim "we don't sell anymore because of Internet Piracy" with not even looking at themselves.
I hate these guys too !
MTV started out good, but then it just became stupid
Isn't the point of any art (music, movies, etc.) for it to be seen as many eyeballs as possible? Hence, there should be no restrictions on them, especially music. If I want to support a band or group or singer, then I will buy a ticket to their/her/his concert.
