    New Bayesian filter for RSS

    I would like to suggest a great new site that organizes your RSS feeds.
    It employs a bayesian filter for RSS feeds where you can train the filter what you like and
    what you don't like. It's free, try it at www.filteredrss.com.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the round-up.
    The thing is, how do you deal with all those RSS feeds and informations once you suscribed dozens or hundreds of feeds?

    I suggest you have a look at Matoumba.com, which brings up some solution by automatically putting forward the information that is the most relevant to the user. It analyses the topics that the user is interested in, and shares the information with close peers. It's probably the way to go.

    Please include netomat Hub (www.netomat.net) on your list of Mobile/Web RSS readers (and personal RSS feed creation as well!). Get any RSS feed on your mobile phone or on the web with a simple drag and drop desktop tool or browser plug-in. Get alerts on mobile, via email or desektop system tray. Hope you check it out. I just built a Pipe that does something really useful with your feeds. It lets you mash together all the feeds that belong to you so that your friends and family only have one feed to subscribe to. I call it MEGAFEED. Digg it if you like it!

    Since you mentioned Clicky, you should probably know about W3Counter. It also offers web stats via RSS feeds, as well as FeedBurner integration for tracking your own feeds alongside your web stats. It's been doing this for years before Clicky existed.
  • Teli Adlam · 2 years ago
    That's a mighty long list, but useful nonetheless.
    :)

    Not that you actually *need* to make the list longer, it seems that Newzie (http://newzie.com/) has been overlooked though -- it's a feed reader for Windows.

    I'm not affiliated with them, however, I've used the software and its pretty good for organizing and managing news feeds.

    Right now, it's marked beta, but it's been stable for me.

  • shawn mccollum · 2 years ago
    My site has a mobile rss interface. It's not intended to replace google reader or any other tool. It does have a use in some circumstances where you just want to read a feed on your mobile but you don't want to add it to your regular rss reader. it's located at http://wampad.com/rss and is just one feature of the site at wampad.com. You can either enter in the entire url to the feed or you can just enter in the feedburner id. So to read machable you would just need to enter mashable in the input box and hit go, save a ton of typing on your mobile.
  • Sywan · 2 years ago
    Here's a RSS reader called Chaos Wallpaper that displays RSS and a wallpaper on the Windows desktop. It allows styling through CSS. So if you know CSS you can pretty much make the feed look like anything you want.

  • aaa · 2 years ago
    I totally agree. Alesti is the best!
  • ziptar · 2 years ago
    No mention of www.feedreader.com it's the best feed reader for windows.

    Also add www.feed43.com, you can't have an Ultimate RSS Toolbox without it. feed43 can take any webpage and turn it into an RSS feed. Works great for car shopping since autotrader.com doesn't offer RSS feeds, I get cars that match what I am after passively.

    It's not really an RSS tool in itself but, www.crazedlist.org can search and create RSS feeds for craigslist for a whole state or regeion in a few easy clicks.

    Feeds should be everywhere....

    This is still baby-software and a lot of work is needed, but still, it's worth checking out...

    Thanks for the great post, and excellent list.

    However, Attensa (http://www.attensa.com) has an entire enterprise RSS platform that will get the right information to the right person at the right time - whether you want your feeds on Outlook (as you mentioned) or in IM (Sametime), via the web or from your Blackberry.

    The Attensa Feed Server is intended to create a secure, scalable, enterprise RSS environment that integrates seamlessly behind the firewall.

    I think it's most important to note that the Attensa RSS readers are built on a common platform and designed with a consistent user interface and provide seamless synchronization so subscriptions and articles are kept up to date no matter where they are accessed.

    These additional desktop readers are available:

    * Attensa for Windows
    * Attensa for Mac
    * Attensa for Notes

    One of the cool things you can do with these readers and the Attensa feed server is to publish to blogs and forward articles to others as easily as sending an email.

    And you can keep feeds and articles organized with Tagging and Categories.

    Attensa also offers a secure web-based RSS reader.

    I like getting my feeds on my BlackBerry - and they offer an enterprise-quality (read very secure) RSS reader for BlackBerry when paired with the Attensa Feed Server, and has significant speed, security and usability advantages over other mobile RSS readers.

    Too slow for you to get your feeds in any of the above ways? Attensa offers Attensa for Sametime where you can get and share secure RSS feeds in the gold standard for enterprise instant messaging.

    Attensa has developed an entire Enterprise RSS platform - not just an Outlook reader.

    There's one important category I think was missed - email-to-RSS services. I've found Mailbucket - http://www.mailbucket.org/ and RSS mailing list is relted (http://www.rssmailinglist.com/) but would love to know about other such services. Part of the motivation is having moved away from Bloglines as my reader - the one feature I miss was the ability to subscribe to email lists via Bloglines so I am looking for replacement services.

    have any of you ever used http://www.itsmynews.com its a new web based RSS reader and i really like it a lot. I think the layout is very clear and i like many of the features they offer. I love using RSS for posting back to my WordPress Blogs and Static sites.

    If you are interested in how to feed RSS to WordPress here is an acticle I put together.

    I use Google Reader to aggregate my feeds and then post back to WordPress. This creates a site that can automatically update itself.

    Have you thought about writing an article on outputting RSS to blogs for posting content?

    My company (http://www.enjoymymedia.com/) offers free software that allow anyone (eg, even non-techies) to automatically publish a directory on their machine as a *private* RSS feed.
    Here's a blurb:
    By transforming a personal computer folder into a personal broadcasting channel, EnjoyMyMedia turns the act of saving a file into a way to stay in touch. EnjoyMyMedia safely "broadcasts" personal multimedia--photos, videos, audio, doc, any file--over the Net in private, password protected RSS feeds to friends & family. A wizard helps you select folders to Netcast and invite family & friends to subscribe to your channels (feeds). When a file is saved or edited in these otherwise normal folders, subscribers channels automatically update. Subscribers need not install any software & EnjoyMyMedia channels can be accessed live on My Yahoo, iGoogle, Vistas Sidebar, Nintendos Wii, smart phones, Facebook, browsers or any other RSS system. The Transmitter even automatically converts videos to streamable Flash and you can scan paper photos directly into a channel with just a click. Finally, a simple, safe way to regularly share more of your life with loved ones. http://www.enjoymymedia.com/press-clippings.asp

    I would like to suggest Stock Spy (http://www.stock-spy.com) for this list. It is an RSS Reader designed for investors in the Stock Market.

    If you had a category for Alerts/Visualization/Filtering it would also fit under that too.

    -Use it to see News Volume charts for each stock made by combining multiple RSS feeds. From this you can understand how different news events relate to stock price changes.

    -You can get News alerts when there is new news for a stock you're tracking. The alerts allow you to react quickly to important company events which will affect the stock price.
