I didn't know twhirl was such a memory hog. I thought such a small program didn't need much, so I never looked into it.

50 Mb here with 20 replies, tweets and DMs. Perhaps it's Adobe Air that takes it up?

I think I'll stick with previous version of twhirl for now, I haven't really given FriendFeed a go yet, so there is no point in upgrading.

No font adjustment that I can find in AlertThingy plus I have to mouse and click to post to Twitter. Irritating. (You must have reviewed prior to Twitter integration in AlertThingy?)

the custom graphics, especially couple with transparency, usually causes memory hogs.

How about feedalizr.com? Its also in the same level and the creators state that new and exciting twists are coming.

Its also in AIR and interacts with FriendFeed, its alpha actually, but the beta version should come loaded with goodies.

I've created a twitter poll to figure out what people might like better. Tell the world what you think :)

I want to see Twhirl merge the 2 into one window *and* recognize duplicate content. In fact, for the FriendFeed feed through Twhirl, I want to block out tweets completely. Most of the folks I subscribe to on FriendFeed are also folks I follow. I want FriendFeed to tell me about their blog posts, pictures they're posting, etc. but I don't want to see the same tweets again and I certainly don't want to see every @reply they're sending to folks I'm not following. That makes for a lot of noise.

I think Alert Thingy is taking cues from the FriendFeed website. On FriendFeed.com, comments are expanded once they're expanded, and there's no going back without reloading the page.

I have used Twhirl for FriendFeed for quite some time. I have not tried AlertThingy...yet. As far as just getting notifications when something shows up in my feed I like the alert windows program available on your FriendFeed Tools page. All it really does it pop up a window showing what has come in. At this point there is not a lot of functionality but it is nice.

    Blessings,
    Wendy
