    bout time flickr was getting dated. Yup redesign must be in the air cuz spontaineously I started my own site redesign.

    It's not really that much of a change. Flickr has always had your latest 4 shots, your contacts latest 4 (either as one-per-contact or five-per-contact) and the 4 most recent global photos, and also providing links to two separate streams of "Comments on Your Photos" and "Comments You've Made" for keeping you up to date. This is an evolution to provide more content on the front page more than anything else.

    I actually think that the added ability to customize exactly what blocks you get on the homepage is also an important one - finally I'll be able to hide my own photos.

    This seems like another in a line of recent Facelifts, but to be honest, I don't think any of the new facelifts (facebook, youtube, etc.) have improved much. I wish they added some more areas like a favorite stream or a tag search stream in there. Thanks for the post though. I talked about it on my show today:
