So...welcome to 2004? I'm not exactly sure why we should be celebrating the CEO of a major publisher like The Washington Post finally joining Facebook. It's not like it was an innovative thing...if media isn't heavily investing social media by this point and actively engaging w/ readers like bloggers do. They are going to be gone faster then we think.

And I am a reactionary idiot...that reads a twitter feed...instead of the article. My bad...

hah, no worries ... when I first got the news my initial reaction was "wtf" but when I thought about it for a few minutes, it started to make some sense.

Hehe, thanks for for being understanding Adam. It makes considerably more sense now to me :)

If anything, it's a great career move. Who wouldn't want to be on Facebook's board?

Agree with Daniel. Even in an old media workplace that egages in new media, I'm sure there are many struggles and frustrations. In a tech/new media environment however, I'm sure the reins are a lot looser.

Excellent start toward the next step in cultural transformation. While the printing press didn't competely
destroy the Church as the primary source of knowledge it surely did get the reformation up and running.

This is a gateway for facebook for entering “media”. But it also poses the print media various challenges.
As facebook's audience are becoming more aware of current events facebook is far reaching.

I'm pretty sure this actually slightly crony-ism (not necessarily in a bad way) repaying a favor granted by Graham long ago when Facebook was raising funding. Graham has apparently been a mentor to Zuckerberg for a long time, and I think it is that trusting relationship more than any new direction for Facebook that is the cause of Graham's appointment.
