Come on people. This is basic business. Gary's amazing, but this is 101 stuff. If you don't inherently know it....

2500 uniques a day enough to live on?

Time for a post - "How to live on 2500 uniques a day."
  • Stefan Constantinescu · 1 year ago
Seriously, 2500 uniques to live on ... I want him to prove how.

I love this guys... he is brilliant and fun. Even though I feel like we all fall short of having 100% commitment to the things we want to do in our lives. Life is just messier, I wish things were as clear-cut as he presents them.

Absolutely brilliant! Brilliant talk, brilliant concept to take it to the streets and great vibe - really the CAN DO attitude shining through.

Gary is very insightful and truly one of the most critical things he said (not in the notes!) was in answer to the question:

When did he know it was going to succeed? (with this never done before marketing concept)
Gary: The day before I started!

That attitude is common among all successful people. NO DOUBT - Absolute certainty. Living FROM the outcome! Get this and embody it and you are gold!

    Thank you Gary!!

I took your advice and did something to help my community. This is my business below.

Bidwilly(BW) will be the 1st free social marketplace that allows local businesses, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and unemployed workers to compete for consumer jobs through open bidwars. Open bidwars, now being heralded as Bidding 2.0, is a terminology that describes how bidders may view the bid responses of others to initiate public(un-restricted) bidding wars.

The way it works is quite simple. Business Professionals(BPs) may assign themselves to any of 1200 service categories with the ability to suggest new categories, creating new markets and opportunities never once thought of. The social aspect of BW allows consumers to very easily invite bidders based on people their friends have chosen in the past, profiles they have saved, or through local search. Search results will display the BPs profile photo, information on the professional, work portfolio, customer ratings, reviews, and a B2C network(a social network of customers served) before inviting BPs to bid.

The optimal outcome if BidWilly is embraced will result in an overwhelming growth of entrepreneurs and registered small businesses. Unemployment rates will hit an all time low. More families will be able to stay in there homes. High schoolers will have a marketplace to begin a trade or become freelancers. People will strive to maintain good karma in the community. Lower crime rates due to lower concentrations of poverty. BidWilly is destined to change America, and even the world, as we know.

This is a good article for new entrepreneurs, you put all the basics together... Here is my advice: In down economy times you need to boost your advertising and promotions, and cut expenses from other part of your business. Those who advertise big will gain big, the rest maybe those going out of business in the next 3 to 5 years....

Wow, very passionate indeed. Now unlike my favorite saying
"Lucy you got some splan-nen to do"

This was always a frustration factor being in the advertising and pr field when trying to change corp. clients consciousness from old dog techniques to social spaces and showing slow and steady finishes the race faster and stronger

I find it runs small to mid businesses tend to follow the "jack be nimble" theory and are hungry to addopt, why
I think that they are passionate still, decision movers are close and personal with the company, where larger companies tend to loose identification with company within their ranks - If they are not speaking at home how will they understand the idea of speaking to their marketplace.

So now, I spend my time "splan-nin" to those who listen and want to join in the conversation .

Thanks Gary awesome way to start my day and rev the engines.

Love the no bullshit...straight talker...telling it like it is. I hadn't heard him speak much, but will definitely listen up when I hear he's talking now.

I agree with some comments above, about it being pretty basic 101 statements. But that's kinda the problem with most people/companies. They want to skip the basics and jump right into blowing up. It's just that you have to start somewhere, and sometimes people need to be reminded of that.

I asked what the stump speech was for companies concerned about negativity in the social space. Gary's answer: "You tell them they will lose and you walk out." He went on to give the following amusing analogy: Your a boxing coach, and the company is a new student. The new student says they want to box but don't like getting punched. If you convince them to join boxing anyway, they're going to get punched once and freak out. It's not worth the efforts - wait till companies are ready and willing to jump in.

I thought this was a great presentation given the economic crisis we are in. Yes, it speaks to the "the basics" or "101 business" however now more than ever, we need be reminded of the situation we are in and will be in for the next year or two.
As for the his comment on 2500 unique hits/day. I took that as a challenge that we need to find more creative ways to monetize our businesses. He gave us a hint that we need to find a niche that will allow us to capitalize on so few unique hits.

Meant to say "innovative" above instead of "innovate" but cannot edit my comment. Oh well.

Gary sells products, not advertising. Too many people want to stick a blog up, sit on their couch and make a million with ads. Sell a service, and you are limited to what you, yourself can provide (unless you have a whole service company.) But make or sell a product, and do it uniquely, and dominate your space, and you might easily be able to live on 2500 eyeballs a day.

Anyone that doesn't know how to make enough money from 2500 uniques a day has no clue what they are doing on the web.

There's more to making money than running ads.

That was, well, motivational. SPORTSWURLZ grew 1 million pageviews per month in its 3rd month. Is Gary available?
