Can you please tell me revenue share skim? Cartfly is 3%, the other is 5% (but offers a few more features). How will you charge??

Re: Flogd Launches A Shopping Widget

Great Idea!!!! I think your probably only a couple months behind us at www.cartfly.com We only have a few hundred stores and our official launch with our new home page will be coming July 25th. This will be an interesting to watch, I dont even view you as competition. Before starting Ustrive Inc/www.cartfly.com in late 2005, I started socko energy drink with a few friends in late 2003. We never looked at Red Bull or Monster as competition we just thought it was all good for the premium beverage catergory!! I kind of feel the same way now. Its all good for the e-commerce catergory. In the early 90s I used to travel around in a VW following the grateful dead around, I sold more t-shirts in the parking lot of dead shows then you could possibly imagine, what a great tool this would have been back in the day and I wouldnt have had to worry about my bus breaking down every 300 miles. Although, all i knew back then was how to log onto Prodigy at my parents house and post on the message boards. God the internet has come a long way.....I guess I have too...By the way, a portion of cartfly proceeds go to support the 4yr old in the pic and the tattoed guy on the train with her......ok I know that was a cheap shot!!! Seriously consider this my digital handshake on wishing you guys well!!!!!

Re: Flogd Launches A Shopping Widget

Thanks very much for the great write-up. I'm a co-founder of Flogd, and just thought I'd make a few small comments.

We're working on ways to improve the checkout experience and feeling of safety- there will be a number of updates over the next few days.

Derek- gaining exposure for a Facebook launch by being blocked on MySpace is actually not our plan- but only because we've already got a Facebook app! ;)

The MySpace Terms of Use actually state that the site may not be used for commercial purposes. We take this to mean that they don't want you to place adverts whose revenue is not going to MySpace, or gain exposure for a business by spamming etc. They currently allow bands to sell their music- surely "commercial" to the same degree as an artist selling a painting by using Flogd?

If they ban us, MySpace will be potentially alientating a number of their users (bands selling CDs, merchandise etc.) as well as a number of charities we are working with to provide donation services through MySpace. They don't seem to be terribly worried about alientating their users by blocking third-party applications, however they'd be nuts to block it while Facebook steams ahead. MySpace also does not currently remove links to PayPal- links which are very likely to be supporting a commercial application.

Cheers guys, all your feedback is always most welcome.

Edward

Re: Flogd Launches A Shopping Widget

...flogd may be the next "Blocked on MySpace" story...which will gain them tremendous traffic for their Facebook app unveiling.

It's all pre-orchestrated for maximum exposure...or it's just my over active imagination.

Re: Flogd Launches A Shopping Widget

have I missed something here...isn't it against Myspace 'rules' to sell stuff from your profile?

Or are they giving them a piece of the action?

[c]
