This is pretty cool news. At least or iPhone/iPod touch owners. The application is impressive!
  • maique · 1 year ago
I can't seem to be able to find the app in both the App Store and iTunes.
I guess it's not available on all countries..
  • PaulGlazowski · 1 year ago
    Where are you located?
  • maique · 1 year ago

I've been using Last.fm with iTunes on my computer for about 18 months - It's great! While this app does everything it says it does, and it does it well, I wonder what impact all this streaming media over 3G and EDGE will have on my carriers 'Excessive Data Usage' policy?
  • PaulGlazowski · 1 year ago
Don't dare listen over EDGE. I didn't even bother trying. Wi-Fi or 3G only if you must. (I'm using a first-gen iPhone, so Wi-Fi's my only option, but I'm content.)

Ha. We just mentioned Last.fm in our last two blog posts (as one of the best music discovery sites, and talking about their paying royalties to unsigned artists)...And I just bought the new 3G iphone on Friday - and am currently obsessing over all the cool apps. Guess I'll have to give it a try.

Can you listen to Last.fm while using other programs like safari? I tried AOL radio. It's great, but it kept shutting down every time I tried to run another pgoram.
  • PaulGlazowski · 1 year ago
No, you cannot. Some applications can run in the background. Mail, iPod, AIM (it can be set to not sign off when you exit the program). Last.fm doesn't.

does this app include lyrics like the jailbroken version that I am running on my iTouch?
  • PaulGlazowski · 1 year ago
no, not that I'm aware of.

Great... region bullying with the apps too, no pandora, no last.fm...
  • PaulGlazowski · 1 year ago
I hear you. The more the merrier. But sometimes it just doesn't happen for everyone at once. The unfortunate reality of global services development.
  • Andrew Warner · 1 year ago
Yeah. I finally tried this last night and every time I switched away, last.fm shut down. I hope apple allows music apps to work in the background. iTunes can do it. These guys should be able to also.
  • PaulGlazowski · 1 year ago
It's really only a matter of time before they make that happen.

Why is everyone so fond of LastFM when services like Deezer are available and offer free and legal music on demand instead of a radio... you can see what it's about on http://www.deezer.com/en
