As companies are looking for ways to cut down on costs, using a company blog to disseminate information to both employees and customers is such a timely tip. I do agree that one of the biggest roadblocks is within the corporate culture, especially in industries that have a wide-ranging demographic. It can be more time consuming initially to use social media, but in the end can be much more efficient and cost effective.

Re: Social Media 101: How to Get Your Business Involved

Thanks for the update. This info is very helpful to assist clients to expand their presence. I can imagine it is also helpful to people trying to get their company to support a presence within social media.

Best, Sonia

Re: Social Media 101: How to Get Your Business Involved

hought leadership. A CEO can submit an op-ed piece to the Wall Street Journal or Inc., but those opportunities are few and far between. Supplement traditional thought leadership pieces with a monthly or quarterly podcast, where fidelity 401k employees can discuss industry trends and company views to a wider audience. These podcasts also become sales engagement tools and can be posted to internal employee blogs as well. And you don’t have to be a big company to host a successful podcast

Re: Social Media 101: How to Get Your Business Involved

Email is a critical business application

Re: Social Media 101: How to Get Your Business Involved

I think you said the best advice in the first paragraph... have a plan. If you are going to engage your business or self with the social media web 2.0 thing, I can't do it willy nilly or it isn't going to be cohesive.

You had a lot of great comments and I think readers should try to focus on one or two ideas and see how they work for them.

I work for a professional networking company so I am heavily involved in the business aspect of web 2.0. Starting a Twitter account or signing up on professional networks is a pretty easy way to get started with the web 2.0 thing.

The biggest thing to do is just getting involved. Just jump in.

Re: Social Media 101: How to Get Your Business Involved

Thanks Adam, I will read your book. "so many different applications with different UI's .. for each feature we need to log in to other site" - there's a lot of exciting stuff out there.. much of it can be really useful but mainly in isolated silos .. it's really hard to convince someone to do that extra mile. (i'm not talking about the marketing communication sides.. there it's much easier)

Re: Social Media 101: How to Get Your Business Involved

You can also take a moment to download this free 75-page social media strategy eBook, "There Is No Secret Sauce."
