It's not true at all. You link to a screencast of looking at a google calendar online. No syncing. No syncing what-so-ever.
Its easy to setup your iPhone to use imap access to gmail over the air in real time.
You can email your pics to an upload address for picasa.
You can access your google docs from the iPhone web browser.
All free & all working.
Im glad you have expanded on this option now because I felt it was a worthwhile alternative.
I avoid buzz words & fad's, trying instead to find simple reliable ways to get things done.
Me 2, i have account fatigue but more over I have 'complicated unreliable backup' fatigue in addition.
For the longest time I have wanted a what is on my phone to be, 'mirrored' so to speak, somewhere else so that when the inevitable cell phone calamity happens I can still access important stuff somewhere else.
Im not affiated with Apple, Google or Nueva in any way, merely an end user whose geek nerve has RSI & looking for seamless transparent solutions to data retention. I dont work for a top 100 company with vast IT resources and nor do see MobileMe as an affordable (or reliable) option at this point.
12 months ago I attempted to achieve this through various smart phones using various web services both free & paid.
I gave up in defeat. 12 months later a conjunction of planets has occurred. Google has added many new API's & interfaces to enabel end users to get data onto its servers and the other is Apple have introduced the iPhone & added robust support to enable communicating with these services.
I tried & tried to get simple reliable syncing between my Mac's & cell phones & given up on that for the moment.
Once again thanks for your article & your thoughtful replies. I enjoyed & leaned some things.
Cheers

Is it good? It would be great if you wrote a review on this subject. I wanted to use the promo offer and buy this one for $10, while I still can save 60%, but it's still would be nice to hear your expert opinion first.
