Huffington Post at it again... getting content on their site without having to pay a dime to the content creator.

Not sure how I feel about this deal until Summize makes this freely available for all sites to use. I really think Summize has a phenomenal search service for Twitter and I'm glad to see them be able to monetize their technology... but I'm not a fan of how Huffington is ganking OUR tweets to enhance THEIR website. Shouldn't Twitter be getting paid somewhere along the way, too? I don't like seeing the tweeters and Twitter itself left in the dark on this deal. :(

Congrats to the Summize team. Worth noting, of course, that Ken Leher is a very active investor in both companies (former CEO of HuffyP and investor in BetaWorks, where Summize was developed).

Here's another contextual Summize.com widget, for those wanting the same sort of "show me Tweets for tags on my blog" functionality the HuffingtonPost is now offering.

This widget automatically analyzes the content of the referring webpage, extracting contextually-relevant keywords, and shows Summize.com search results for that keyword.

For instance, if your blog post is talking about "barack obama", it might show Tweets that also mention this.

I think HuffPo's adoption is both an indicator and a driver of mainstream Twitter adoption. I am more convinced than ever that non-techies will use Twitter, especially with the largely untapped teen/sms market.

Here's another widget created for Summize.com, "Tweets in your Location".

It uses geo-location to detect the physical location of any visitor to your website, and shows Tweets via Summize for their City/Region.
