No needless group messages, no 'personal' messages.
I agree with warzabidul - don't add and/many people you don't know face to face.
Also, Facebook does need to work on it's email platform. Make it IMAP or something. At very least let people read the messages in their email rather than just getting a notification.
Yea facebook could do filtering and cap a limit on outgoing messages, but how about just telling these people that you've had enough?
It isn't one or two folks. This is becoming a trend, in much the same tradition of spammy myspace, in which people feel that because you've become their "friend" on Facebook, you've asked them to hook you up to their mailing list.
The replies I'm seeing here about "just tell them" and "remove them from your list" remind me of the arguments against those of us who complained about spam in the late 90s: "just hit the delete button."
