An excellent resource already. One more resource that might be mentioned is the Google App Engine. It competes, in some sense, with other products that might be on the list such as popfly, Yahoo! Pipes, and Mash Maker. It also makes it possible to use products like CherryPy and Django.

Its very difficult to get into this business now-a-days. I would recommend trying to find a tutor or taking a class so you can get a heads up.

As for development, Magid Comuputers ( www.magidcomputers.com ), has some of the best services I've known. They created everything from social networking sites (ie: www.thefin.com ) to e-commerce websites (ie: www.smokepitara.com ). Check them out. They also offer SEO Services

Great resource, thanx! However, I would like to see BugWiki included in the list of bug tracking tools. I've used it for some time now and unlike anything else I have ever tried, this time it really IS easy! Perhaps a litte lightweight for some of you heavy duty coders out there, but for the rest of us it's definately worth a test drive. https://www.bugwiki.com

Don't forget that Diamond Binding is bloody easy to use and has a free edition for non-commercial use. Only avaliable for Visual Studio 2005 though.

Theres a couple of good articles about it up on codeproject as well.

Worst marketing ever IMO. They spend ages talking about all the features it has (like seriously impressive list) and then they dont mention you get a full data layer, that doesnt use shitty templates, in like ten mins. :P

Nothing beats billing a few hundred bucks to add a column, when you just add it in the database, hit resync and its on the business objects and good to go :)
