The new reader is so cute. Way more aesthetic that the old one. WTG Goog.

My first reaction wasn't so positive...I'm just so used to the old one that this one is gonna take time to get used to.

The option to collapse left boxes is a big improvement, on eeepc it is indispensable!

I really like the new reader :) Well not at first, but when I got to use it a bit.
As always there will be people too stubborn and set in their ways to be able to see the good things in the new, but now that it has come, I don't see why we should be looking back.
The new reader looks more professional and a lot cleaner :)

How the heck do you hide the numbers?!

The new version was a shocking change. It's not too bad now that I'm used to it except it's a lot less readable on my monitor than the old version. I had to bump up the zoom setting to make it more comfortable and the font still seems a bit on the thin side.

This line describing the new look amused me "Out with the old rounded corners, drop shadows and heavily saturated colors"... clearly they don't have the slightest clue what "saturated" means considering the old look was all pastel colours.

Their sense of design is remedial at best. It amazes me that for all the PHDs they hire, they can't get a half decent designer to point out their blantantly obvious UI gaffes.

Mark P - I can't turn off the numbers either and the shared settings don't load.

The change sure was dramatic. I was also hoping for there to be a "choose the old theme" option, but alas. While I do like the space, I find all the white to be a little to "bright" and I miss the blue hues.

So far, I like the Google Reader changes. But then, I also liked the changes to iGoogle as well.

Nice layout even though it hurts sensitive eyes. It's too bright.

This is horse dung. The left sidebar should be more separated with background color. I will modify this turd with the Stylish add-on.
  • Jimbo · 1 year ago
If so, Horse dung > You

You sound like you need to calm the **** down and get a life.

I have to admit that for me the Google Reader is one of my most under-utilized applications. It's always been great, but it keeps going from strength to strength.

" the ability to mark a read article as unread would also be an improvement. "

Can't you just click "Keep unread" on the post as always? The option seems to still be there.

Wow, now that is one lucky reader aint it!

I must be a little slow, but I didn't realize it was new until half-way through my feed reader this morning. And I use it everyday. It's not such a dramatic change that very many people are going to be "lost" with the new design. They probably won't even notice.

Aesthetically, I think it's hideous. Feature-wise, good work.

I'm huge on minimalistic design and color, but this is bad. It's an eyesore, actually.
At least with Gmail's redesign you had the option to revert back to the classic theme. Reader will not allow even that.

    Netvibes design still better.

    Very nice redesign!

I like that new look. There are few very good improvments in most of their services there I really think that all of this is for good but let's see the future :)
