I'd personally say that's not a detail, that's misrepresenting him for the purposes article. The article suggests he's one of many celebrities to join in on "this here new Twitter thing", and while it's true he's a better-known person on Twitter, he's been using it since before it was a popular service.
Like many of us long-time Twitterers, Wil and many others don't use the service because it's popular now, we all helped make it what it is today.

strikes me there is an abyss between someone like @wilw, who is practically driving the bandwagon rather than jumping on it, and @therealbritney, who herself still probably has no idea what Twitter is, or how it works. so much of an abyss, that I ponder the value of including them in the same list.
likewise, though I may be an ardent supporter of @barackobama, I struggle to picture him hunched over a laptop right now trying to find a pithy way of telling us what he had for dinner in less than 140 chars. @andy_murray on the other hand, the Tennis pro fresh from his win in the Madrid Masters, surely can't be paying anybody to write his tweets. Gotta love him, but if he is, he's paying them too much.
for my money it might have made for a more interesting post to look at the different ways in which these 'celebrities' use Twitter. that said, people commenting prior to me seem to think that this is a useful list, so far be it from me to rain on your parade.
I would have to question the inclusion of many of the politicians in the list since it's generally not personally updated. Actually, I would tend to discount anyone who didn't personally update their account.

Hey- Well, there is one really cool celebrity that has just been on for the last few weeks and all ready garnered 80,000 twitterers. Her name is Adventure Girl, Stefanie Michaels. Her she lovingly calls her fans "sweet-tweets"- responds to all her @replies and direct mail personally, and isn't a snore. She actually shares travel tips and deals.

I think it's great the celebs are on Twitter which gives us peons a chance to actually communicate with people we normally can only admire from afar. My beef about it is they want people to follow them but when someone sends a comment or question they never respond. How fucking rude are these people!!! I realize they get a gazillion messages an hour, but there could be a little more effort to answer questions or participate in a conversation. Kirstie Alley for instance..I followed her, sent several polite messages and a few questions..Not ONE response. I felt like tapping the mic and saying "HELLO"? So, I unfollowed her after seeing one of her posts that she only wanted "funny" Tweets. Whatever!! I used to admire her...now I just think she's a bitch. Twitter is a fun program, but if the high and mighty are going to participate, then come down a notch or two and socialize with us nobodies.
