Social network, A Small World, has a calendar for members that lets you mark where you will be, and when you will be there. You can also see who will be where are connect with them. I've used it once or twice.

Thanks for this article. It's true; social media is making business travel tolerable, even fun. I always Twitter where I'm going and set up dinners and meetups wherever I can. And the conversations and connections arising from those meetups have been stellar.

Thanks for the list of tools! Great stuff.

Very useful tips. I usually update twitter before and during my trips, but Utterz and LinkedIn answers is a great idea.

You may also want to consider using mobile location based services like www.plazes.com

I typically use some combination of Facebook and Twitter to update my network on my whereabouts. These tools seem much more efficient though. And I will definitely be using the bar book ;).

I use www.triptouch.com for travel information and also for social purposes.

I have their toolbar installed in my laptop. They have also an iGoogle widget.

Great post! Yes, twitter is great for when we're travelling. I'm now using www.easytweets.com which means you can schedule future events before leaving for your business trip.

I haven't explored Dopplr but I've read great stuff about it.

Great list of suggestions on how to incorporate Social Media into business trips. I think this makes business trips more fun as you're meeting up with new people and still staying connected with those you've left behind, even if for a few days.

Would be interesting to see this same list with purely mobile apps. ;)

I like your post but was wondering what we can do if we are plus a mobile smartphone and minus a laptop until I read the post with the link to http://brightkite.com/

I am definitely going to check this out ...

    thanks
