    Even before it is an offical law, my state North Carolina has been charging taxes on all out of state purchases 6.75% for the last 4 years. It is just ridiculous, they get so much money but don't do anything. Plus they make 20 to 30 cents per gallon on gas taxes.

    NYS has been cracking down on sales tax -- both on consumers and vendors -- for online sales for a couple years now. NYS is a tax-hungry beast. It just doesn't pay to live or do business here, especially if you're an upstater whose tax dollars end up in the city.

    If you're a New York resident, your purchases on Amazon are already taxed. This just has to do with the collection of it.

    Believe it or not, as a New York State resident, you are required to personally keep track of all out of state purchases and then report them on your tax return to pay "compensating use tax" on them.

    That true Taxman, but the issue is that no one (or virtually no one) actually reported their online purchases to the government.

    BUT THERE HAVE BEEN NEW DEVELOPMENTS!!

    According to Seeking Alpha, NY MAY REPEAL THE TAX!! You can read all about it in this article here;
