He is energetic, playful, charismatic, and funny.

I think that if 10% of that "real self" was able to come through in his run for office he'd be sitting in the White House.

He's been doing the most important work I could imagine and I'd be glad to see what he has to tweet about.

Re: Al Gore: “I’ll Be on Twitter By Tomorrow”

24 Jun 1986: Albert Gore (D-TN) introduce S 2594
Supercomputer Network Study Act of 1986

Re: Al Gore: “I’ll Be on Twitter By Tomorrow”

I think 140 characters is enough to say "Believe what I say and don't investigate the truth".

Club Of Rome scum!

Re: Al Gore: “I’ll Be on Twitter By Tomorrow”

If you've spent downtime with Al in person, he's got a great, biting wit. I think he'll take to Twitter like a duck on water. It suits him to be, in a sense, just another voice snarking on life.

And I hope he's not like most politicians on Twitter and actually posts about the mundane things he does, like the scene in "An Inconvenient Truth" where he's going through security at an airport. No need to promote politics and environmental issues there -- others are doing that. Just be Al the family guy and Nashville resident going to Whole Foods like half of Green Hills.

Re: Al Gore: “I’ll Be on Twitter By Tomorrow”

I'm excited for Al Gore to be on TWitter. At this point public school science classes -- among others way outside the networked research community -- were finding access to regional TCP/IP hubs (SuraNet, NEARnet, NyserNet, etc). Gore observed that national interconnection of people and information resources and encouraged its development when it was known as the National Research and Education Network (NREN) in the early 90's. He merely encouraged the idea of cheap net access to publicly accessible information resources (The "National Information Superhighway" lingo)-- derived from the funding with public dollars -- as well as the ultimate involvement of the public communications companies, and provided policy impetus to keep it going.

The guys who invented the Internet are the research network leaders and their cohorts who, in acts of happy sedition, permeated the telecom network with TCP/IP routers before the data communications companies had a clue, and before Mssrs. Werner-Lee and the GoogPals put order on top of the exploding mass of content within the IP servers.

Net.Bible, Chapter 2, Vs 1-12

Re: Al Gore: “I’ll Be on Twitter By Tomorrow”

Had I been old enough to vote in 2000 , I would have voted for Gore. Ask Kevin Rose and he'll admit it.
Al's been making serious money online for years.

Too bad he couldn't get someone to perfect an online voting booth in time. That would've taken care of all those hanging chads.

Re: Al Gore: “I’ll Be on Twitter By Tomorrow”

Great pic Pete.
