    waste of focus for google. desktop apps have a place, and MS has cemented that position for the foreseeable future. until then, google should continue it's disruptive ways.

    @Master William: It looked to me like it might be a primarily backend system, so it's possible that the reference to Java is not about the UI being a Java applet but that the whole programme is written in the Java programming language. That would make sense, because many of the Goog's products are written in Java.

    "Master William", do you really, even in your dreams, belive that a language can make your application look bad?? There are a lot of bad looking applications out there, some are witten in Java , some are not. There are also a lot of nice looking applications and you know what, some of them are written in Java to... If the application looks bad then the developer/designer is responsible, not his programming language.
    Further more, if the application are located on a server then your browser are more likely to be at fault than the serverside application
