I use it, but it's like collecting rain in a leaky bucket. The results are rarely complete.

Re: Technorati Steps Into MyBlogLog Territory

@ Paul, that's excellent, really looking forward to seeing what they're cooking. We've been very big fans of MyBlogLog - it's been an excellent way to add an instant community around your blog, put a face to your frequent visitors, and to meet many like minded bloggers.

They've also made some good strides lately to curb MBL spam, so they've handled their pretty explosive growth pretty darn well.

Not everyone has noticed yet, but BlogCatalog has really made some strides lately - they MyBlogLog-like community widget is a nice touch; they don't have the MBL traffic levels by any means yet, but it's growing fast as well.

Have an awesome day!
Dan

Re: Technorati Steps Into MyBlogLog Territory

I'm glad to see the reduced focus on faves. The question is: was it planned anyway, or is it a knee-jerk reaction to all the link trains that have been doing the rounds lately?

@Martin: don't count them out yet mate! I have a sneaky (and possibly well-informed) hunch that they've got something special in the pipeline! ;)

Re: Technorati Steps Into MyBlogLog Territory

Hey Ilker - great question. I'd love to see it personally. Whatever happens will be very good I think for all of us.

More competition = more choice = more great innovations for us to choose from. :-)

Have an awesome day!
Dan

Re: Technorati Steps Into MyBlogLog Territory

MyBlogLog really does seem to have slowed down any further development. If they are not careful, I really can see Technorati muscling in on them.

- Martin Reed

Re: Technorati Steps Into MyBlogLog Territory

That said, if Technorati does step into MBL territory - any ideas what will happen?

Re: Technorati Steps Into MyBlogLog Territory

I don't think a widget is enough to step into MBL territory.. they need to create communities, a message system and of course provide site statistics as well!

Re: Technorati Steps Into MyBlogLog Territory

thaks

Re: Technorati Steps Into MyBlogLog Territory

The technorati favorites icon widget is nice, but I don't think it compares with MyBlogLog (or even BlogCatalog as of late) because it'll be relatively stale. Even the most popular blogs only get favorited "so often".

MyBlogLog shows a constantly updated list of recent visitors, so it's always changing, showing your visitors that there are indeed other people browsing your site - there's an ever changing crowd checking out your content. So they don't feel they're the only ones there.

I think that does a lot to add the human and community touch to a site, making regular visitors more likely to interact and also to return later.

Have an awesome day!
Dan

Re: Technorati Steps Into MyBlogLog Territory

Stan - I guess the fan icons have been there since long but yes, Technorati is now showing them on the main profile page.. The widget idea is definitely a nice one.
