being the A&R for a indie record label I am a fan of most websites focused on helping Unsigned artist get heard. MSN seems to be on to something here! Another good site that has a contest going on is http://www.B-SharpRecords.com - They will be giving 5 artist record deals. They also have distribution through Universal. Check it out!

The second I saw "13 step tutorial" and "no community", I knew this site was doomed. Something like this would be great if it were truly supported by a company that cared about indie musicians.

This is just a joke. How do indie musicians even get on this site and get noticed.. you cant even contact MSN!!! just complete bullshit.
The thing about MSN is that it really does have the traffic to make it seem like it would work. Sites like it and Jango have the traffic to mix unsigned musicians in with "mainstream" bands to get them plays. Of course Jango charges unsigned musicians but the theory is all the same.
It's just MSN made things too complicated for it to be super effective.
