Apparently @thewhitehouse was deleted entirely -- now it's just @whitehouse -- When I got there, there were only 3 followers and updates were protected -- I requested to be let in, and within 30 seconds there were 205 followers -- a minute later, 374. Just four minutes later there are over 400 -- not quite as fast a rise as Ashton Kutcher, or even @sternshow, but quite respectable considering people had to find the corrected Twitter name.

Do your research guys. @thewhitehouse & @whitehouse_gov are unaffiliated with the white house. Why would you say it was maintained by the bush administration and turned over to obama? Did you just make that up?

Wow, guys calm down, stop being so negative.....every comment on this page is boiling my skin....Barack Obama made an great executive decision today....I did like his decision to freeze six figure incomes....all americans work as hard to survive and make little pay....we can just be as talented as those who may better pay....we manage to live large by sharing what we have as a need to survive with our families....any thing extra are just luxuries and wants....

Notice the difference between the posts of the two administrations. While Bush's posts are cluttered and dense, Obama's are simple, catchy and readable. I think this demonstrates both Obama's ability to effectively use new medias as well as his marketing talent.

whitehouse.gov also has its own twitter account @whitehouse_gov. Would make sense to have just a one.
