To be fair, all that legislation you are attributing to Clinton (the president, who does not write or vote on legislation by the way) was passed with the help of Newt Gingrich and his "contract with America." Republican Congress and Senate, but a Democratic President, so therefore it must be the Democratic Parties fault, huh?

The video is available on Hulu and on Youtube and on NBC's website. Based on the transcript I saw on Malkin's site, the only thing that was censored was the reference that the couple should be shot (which was funny, but unfortunately unairable). Relax Republicans...relax.

Actually my claiming mental anguish the could have quite a claim. Second lawsuits with rich people are long drawn out and expensive things. Lastly if they spun it as anti-Semitic NBC could be looking at a bigger PR disaster then they are seeing here.

I think this is a very good, comprehensive and fair writeup on what happened over the past week with the SNL bailout parody. It's definitely been curious that this happened and the way it happened + the possibility / likelihood such involved online censorship is a topic worthy of such coverage here. And, hulu, being the the source of such controversy, has been a subject of many Mashable columns over the past year(s) and to ignore this aspect of their online presence would be a disservice to the reading public.

Keeping in mind that there has been no real information from NBC on what the reasons behind the takedown are, I'm guessing the legal tactic taken by the Sandlers (if it happened) was a criminal threat, not a civil one. Even when you're joking, it's difficult to get away with 'inciting violence.'

You're right on the libel situation, though. I would imagine that it would be a nigh-impossible case to prove on that.

Deano is like every other liberal, they only want to take credit for good work. But way to cowardly to admit their own wrong doings. Does anybody talk about the Clinton administration de-regulating the morgage market in sept 1999, or the fact that they promoted sub-primes to people who did not qualify for a home previously? The answer is NO. Wake up.

The problem is these stupid liberals who want to give everything away for free, this country is built on hard working people. If you can not afford a home, rent.

I wasn't responsible for censoring any comments - and our general policy here is to let comments stand. In the year I've been an editor here, I've censored two comments, and both contain extremely racist and violent content. It's more likely that it was lost due to a commenting glitch than censorship.

In general, I'm in favor of free market dynamics. I haven't put much thought into this particular spin here, because this crosses over into an arena that concerns more than just NBC/CBS/Fox/ABC. To truly avoid this situation in the future, we'd also hafta enforce deregulation on Google, which crosses into some questionable territory.

If it wasn't for Google's unflinching obedience to DMCA requests, we'd still be able to watch this skit regardless of what NBC decided regarding it's un-publishing.

In terms of that, a simple trust-busting operation wouldn't be the be-all end-all, but would still be accompanied by all the problems that could bring to the table.

I'm guessing you're probably a user of YouTube - so this story has implications even for you. The last sub-section brings it back around beyond the political angle - I'd suggest you read that to see how this story applies to you beyond US politics.
