At my alma mater, there was a bit of a blow-up over a group called "Rowers are Sexually Charged" that led to some threats of people being kicked off teams. Groups were made private, etc etc.
Now some schools with large football programs are making it official and teaching that what you post stays out there. It's actually not a bad idea. I just wish they extended the opportunity to all students, not just athletes.
Which is not right or wrong based on your perception, however, I see the next generation as embrassing the millenials learned from the Boomers.. and the Gen X and future are learning from the Millenials.
The only reason people are so broadcast oriented now is because they can be. It's a freedom that we have.
With the U.S. Patriot Act suddenly knocking on our doors, the internet is the last place to act... soon that will be gone.
Like any lifecycle, we are in stage 1 as a community and are learning from what our peers do right and wrong.
Like everything there are advantages and disadvantages, but the long run will show how much better transparency is.
And even if you don't post it, pictures of you acting stupid can be posted by others via the ubiquitous camera phone.
Little brother is watching...
