Make sure it's a
professional response. Lots of good info on the web on how to reply or respond.

Re: Google Maps Local Reviews: 8 Big Losers

This is cool.

www.whywebpr.blogspot.com

Ali Magnano

Re: Google Maps Local Reviews: 8 Big Losers

Hi Philip,
I am sorry about this. Our support aims to reply in a timely manner - something must have gone wrong. I have personally deleted the place in question, as it did not have any reviews. Greetings from Hamburg, Germany.

Re: Google Maps Local Reviews: 8 Big Losers

I am a member of Qype, philipmorris, I have contacted Qype 7 times to get a company removed from thier listings, but had no reply at all from them, I will probably cancel my membership with them due to this.

Re: Google Maps Local Reviews: 8 Big Losers

It'd be great if there was a way to compare the traffic of JUST Google's review feature vs. the rest of the sites on this list.

Re: Google Maps Local Reviews: 8 Big Losers

If somebody inserts bad or injurious reviews on my company profile on Google Maps how can i delete it?

Everybody could ask money to companys just to not write bad comments in the reviews.

Re: Google Maps Local Reviews: 8 Big Losers

Most reviews I'm seeing already are from Yelp, so at least for now, this is giving Yelp more exposure.

Re: Google Maps Local Reviews: 8 Big Losers

I'd have probably mentioned Menuism.com here, as well. I love their site what with the Facebook App and Twitter integration. It's pretty feature rich, but it's a ghost town. The sparse community is keeping from really using it a ton.

Re: Google Maps Local Reviews: 8 Big Losers

Unsurprisingly, Google introducing reviews has been a big topic of conversation at the welovelocal offices.

As far as we're concerned you're right on the money James. Google provides precisely no social element to adding reviews which we believe will be a big driving force. Furthermore a user gains little satisfaction from adding a review to Google. There is very small chance of it being read by a friend, no system of review feedback, and what is more chances are it will be thrown in with hundreds of other reviews (most of which has been crawled from sites like ours) meaning your time/words have a minuscule impact.

We have been entertaining a theory that the real reason behind the move is to develop a trust system, not dissimilar to eBays, to complement Google's checkout offering.

Yes Google entering into your market is a scary proposition, but Google is by no means infallible. This feature (it's a feature not a product) could easily go the way of Answers and or Froogle.

Re: Google Maps Local Reviews: 8 Big Losers

You forgot to mention Qype.com - we just started our UK site, have reviews for other countries as well, and are considerably larger than TrustedPlaces. ;)
