A pretty well executed site but I honestly can't figure out the huge amount they're getting. $7m = Rs.287,000,000! No small start-up needs anywhere near that amount, especially a social networking site in which users are gained via other users.

It seems like the investment maynot be $7mm upahead, probably broken up based on how the website does. Have seen this 'committment' word before in other situations, it generally means that.

Elitist as in; Facebook started out as only granting access to particular colleges, then all colleges, and so on and so forth. Minglebox is taking a slightly similar approach by targeting an existing community and letting them create a space. Perhaps I should change "elite" to "privileged?"

Gotcha. Yeah, their initial rollout at Harvard, and gradual rollout everywhere else wasn't a model of openness. I might have said "closed/limited rollout", but whatever. I just wondered if you meant anything negative, and it's clear you didn't.
Apparently, the Minglebox CEO is the wife of Sequoia Capital India CEO.
The amount is very large for Series A. I checked Alexa (I know its notoriously inaccurate but good relative benchmark) and Minglebox traffic has been going down for the last 7 months.

I dont think it is that easy. My brother worked for a VC firm and we pitched to them. My experience is that in such situations the bar only goes up because both sides are cognizant of the situation.
