A year ago I would have said hell no. But for all reasons important to me Yahoo is dead. I've already moved everything important to me to Gmail and moved from 360 to Blogger. Oh and Mash sucks. I guess that sums it up.

    Tony,

you don't sound like a very social person (in the digital sense of the word). Otherwise you'd mention what were your choices for Flickr, del.icio.us, and Upcoming.

I am a very happy, early investor in Yahoo and if I get a pile of cash from Microsoft, I will be hit with a hefty long term gains tax. So, I favour an all stock swap, or for Yahoo to continue to go it alone.

My opinion: Microsoft really needs Yahoo. They can never replicate Yahoo's Internet franchise. Microsoft probably will have to raise the bid by 10% to $34/$35 per share to make it fly.

I think Yahoo's stakes in Asia (Japan, China, Vietnam, etc.) makes Microsoft's bid way too low!

Anyone who thinks Yahoo! is such a great brand still hasn't been paying attention for the last half a year or so since the Microsoft rumors started. I had been a Yahoo! zealot since that took over Rocketmail. But in the last sever months they have completely let down the user community. Outside of mail and Flickr that is. The mass exodus of personal was just a warning.

So a year ago I would have said never in a million years sell. But they have put themselves in this position to be bought out. So let them be absorbed into MS. Maybe they can contribute some real innovation and free thinking over there. I've moved on. Still bitter but moved on.

Just say "NO" to Ballmer! Ballmer, now, just doesn't seem like a nice guy (I'm saying now).

I am against monopolies. So we all have to put our SEO efforts in 2 baskets that cover 95% of the search market? MicroYahoo and Google are certainly evil. This is bad for the internet. It is Microsoft so they will get what they want. Deep pockets talk.
