"most useless" would be a better tag. YES, it LOOKS lovely, but so far I don't see any reason to go back.

Re: Newspond: News Aggregator Extraordinaire

wonderful project !!! It's more like Techmeme, in that users can't submit and vote on stories. The whole process is automated. It's more social than Techmeme, since you can leave comments. But unless I'm missing something, I think it's odd to compare Newspond to Digg.

Re: Newspond: News Aggregator Extraordinaire

If it shows me better news than Digg I'll switch. I know Digg is supposed to be the Web 2.0 postersite, but IMO it's weighted TOO heavily on user contribution. All the stories look the same. "Top 10 this" "Ron Paul that" "I Heart Apple" etc. etc. It looks like Newspond has good some great algorithms for reducing that.

But... I'd have to suggest that the success of Digg could partly be attributed to those website owners who have are interested in promoting their own content. If Newspond makes it harder to manipulate the front page, the content might be better but they may loose their appeal to an important segment of their audiences. Anyway, just a thought. Good luck to them anyhow.

Re: Newspond: News Aggregator Extraordinaire

Yeah it looks good, but not in Opera 9.25 unfortunately. If you can make it look good in Safari, why not Opera? It's not that far behind.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Mack D.
