I must say I was a bit ticked when Obama neglected his Twitter account after securing the win, but I this gives me new hope that he wasn't just using the web and social networking as a way to get votes. I think this is great news from our President-elect, however I'd like to see more as posting on YouTube isn't a giant step. Tweets from the Oval would be awesome methinks.

Now this is interesting, my friend Brian ( @BCicero on twitter) just wrote an article for thelostjacket.com discussing some of the same issues and approaches that Obama has chosen to take up. Now with this announcement that Obama is going to be using Youtube to make weekly addresses to the nation...well it just makes me happy to see that he isn't moving away from his roots and instead he is solidifying his place as the first "internet" president.

As I said before in a previous post, President-Elect Obama will continue to get his message across to us without it being edited by the media. This will give him more control of how he is portrayed by actually bypassing conventional media. This will also eliminate some presidential addresses and state of the union addresses as these will be redundant. Now that is what I call a great use of technology. Personally I think broadcasting on YouTube is a good move. It tells me that the 'new' administration will be more transparent than any before him. For the political skeptics it also demonstrates that we are entering a new style of open politics.
Also means I can catch the YouTube broadcasts on the move using my iPhone (built-in YT app)

The newest appointee of the new President of United States of America which is Steve Rattner is under fire. Steve Rattner, selected to oversee the automobile industry as the Car czar, of sorts, was the head of the Quadrangle Group, an investment firm that is under SEC investigation. He is alleged to have agreed to finance distribution of a film called Chooch, an Americanized Italian term for a person of questionable intellect, in what seems to be a pay for play scheme in which he got control of a New York based pension fund. Maybe he did it for debt consolidation, or perhaps he was a chooch himself. Regardless, Steve Rattner would get a quick payday loan to make the Chooch scandal go away.
