All they have to do is convert those links that do have affiliate programs into tracked links.

Since almost half the products on the ShowWiki site appear to have an Amazon link - just adding an affiliate code to those links could produce a considerable revenue steam.

After all, Epinions turns product reviews into affiliate dollars and seems to be doing quite well. A similar comparison can be made with ShopWiki and sites like Shopper.com and Shopzilla.com (neither is user-generated, though both are doing quite well with affiliate revenue earnings).

Re: ShopWiki Launches Video Reviews

Pete - I dont think they are injecting affiliate codes into product links because they no feasible way of doing so. You see there are 2 basic models: the affiliate model and the spider the web for data model. These guys have selected the latter and are spidering 1000's of e-commerce sites, grabbing images, descriptions and ratings (which in of itself seems to be perplexing as to why this is permitted legally).

The affiliate option, which they have not chosen, does not require any web crawing because affiliate programs always provide all the above content without needing any fancy web crawling technology.

Given this, I dont see how they could possibly employ both models.
