the station creator has actually been live a little while in the web player and in the beta full client download. very nice and very similar to the AutoDJ in MusicMatch 10.

Slacker.com has $55.5M in funding now, what are they spending all that cash on? Web site and royalties don't cost that much. Hardware could but a mobile player is easy to OEM.

So, it's just that easy, eh? Snap your fingers, get an OEM deal, and viola! You have a device? Nice fantasy world you live in.

"...more so than with Pandora or Last.fm" i would take minor issue with this! this kind of stuff is already on Last.fm - you can create a streaming playlist station with 15 or more different artists you pick yourself (and embed it on myspace), listen to Loved Tracks radio that only plays your favourite songs, and also you can refine recommendations from populist to obscure - pretty much everything Slacker says it can now do!

Not that I can see. At Last.fm you pick tracks, not artists. That's great for the folks like DJ's that know what they want, and have the time to build a track level playlist. But, the majority of people out there a) don't have the time, and b) don't care. They just want to push play and hear music. Pick 15 songs, and that's all you hear...pick 15 artists, and the music plays until you stop it.

Also, Slackers interface is soooooo much easier to use.

the playlists and customer station creat is great. No complaints at all. But with so many new internet radio sites popping up like jango and last.fm and pandora it makes a tough choice. Hopefully Slackers portable device will live up to the quality of there software offering. If Slacker can just initially hit the MASS market then they should be set. I don't see this being an iPod killer or even a Zune replacement, but just another option for us Slackers. Slacker Social also has a bit more info at http://www.slackersocial.com
