Us techies aren't "supposed" to like anything connected with Bill Gates. I don't care either way, but I think it's sad that there are so many thoughtless drones out there who drink whatever kool-aid is fed to them.

I agree Mark, and it's really great to see a major blog like this actually go for the non-populist opinion.
The ad simply humanises Microsoft, something it does really well, like you said; "these commercials, at least for a few minutes, made me really like Bill Gates as well. The commercials made me want to hang out with him."
Sometimes I think the tech blogosphere doesn't have a clue what it wants, a hilarious commercial? I believe that's referred to as a 'sponsored joke'. Attack competitors? That's never been Microsoft's way.

I've only seen two, they seem to be coming out in order, somewhat.
I didn't like the Shoe shopping one, it seemed forced. But the first one where they've moved into the house,, i definitely loved that one. And i like that this is a story that's being rolled out slowly. 'Why are they in some random house' and Jerry later explaining it to Bill.
