BlackBerry Outage Affecting North America
I wonder if it will beat out Firefox 3's recent "record" for most downloads in a 24 hour period?
However, I've noticed that now keeping 2 browsers open is a lot easier for separating out work/jobs... (Chrome is Gmail and Google Reader, FF3 is everything else).
What I do know is that it sure beats the heck out of Mozilla's Prism.
There is absolutely no way I would EVER USE THIS BROWSER. Why?
I bring your attention to Clause 11:
"11. Content license from you
11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.
11.2 You agree that this license includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organizations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services."
WTF? Basically, any data you enter Google owns. Come on - get serious. Why would anyone use a browser with these terms?
They already do this through Google Search.
Now they do it through Chrome. It doesnt mean anything in practice.
Ajax Tabs are not working
Application Directory -> Tabs
Showing some Ajax Stuff on my website is not working.
javascript support is screwed up
Sure - for GOOGLE SERVICES. But what about all the other services on the web where you enter content ...... using Google Chrome - they own ALL OF THIS.
It's really fked up.
somehow, bare bones bad ass operability trumps all.
Frankly, speed doesn't mean all that much to me - if a page opens in 0.13s or 0.35s, it isn't going to wreck my day. If a page load is actually slow, I switch to another tab and carry on with that.
Memory isn't a deal-breaker either. No matter what a slab of RAM costs here in the UK, it'll be about half that elsewhere. My memory use suits my memory load - I don't get crashes ever in FF3.
I do lots of research and personal "fun reading/watching". I've set up my favourites and bookmarks to reflect this. I like being able to SEE my "most used" right there on-screen in front of me, not hidden behind a plethora of other tabs.
Is Chrome just TOO blank a canvas? Maybe we'll see some thoughts from a female viewpoint later today?
Guy comments are pretty much "Look...shiny" and I'd like to hear a different perspective. I know browsers and search tools are regarded as unisex and we are all supposed to think alike, but that isn't the reality I observe.
Finally, I'd have liked to have seen a bit more accessibility built in from the start, but I except Chrome is still very much a beta product. I just hope Google don't get too focussed on the "we must be minimalist" doctrine.
This is no longer about browser but about the an entire marketplace spread between desktop, mobile and web. With Chrome, Google’s taking a shot at Windows, not paltry Internet Explorer
I’ve covered this in more detail on my blog
