Can't really say that Glide is for Windows Mobile, unless your running WM6. There is only Adobe 7 for WM5 and you need Flash 9 to use the site.

There's also GOPC located at http://www.gopc.net - it's probably the first of it's kind. It's a full desktop environment, complete with email services, office applications & online storage.

They also offer shared directory access (on request) so that multiple users can access a common file directory - great for corporate users, clubs & associations etc.

GOPC has a free account as well as a premium account and corporate level account (upon request). GOPC has been around for years and is incredibly stable, secure and fast.

I think there are various Online Operating systems today.... And the user has many other options as i see that all the above listed "webtops" have almost same features repeated, There is another Online Office Suite which is not included in the list i would like to do so Its called "eDesk Online" It gives you the power of a Webtop also with additional features like eAccounting, ePortfolio tracking, eTaxation and many other applications....

I think if we can implement a virus like operating system( I don't mean to harm any one in any sort), that works in the network, but not in an exact place , but serves all the members in the network for their requirements(for ex. to install a new software in need, which will be installed in any machine) That will be called a web o/s. It's virtual, not an actual thing. We don't know at what machine it works on. We just ask,
"Hey buddy, I need to install 3D studio max 18.0"
OS will say,
"Oh, you can't run it in your machine. Would u like 2 search for any other computer to run it?"
"Yes, of course."
Then O/S guy will find a computer with enough resources. And will ask that com's user,
"Hellow master, I was asked to run 3D studio max by someone. But his com hardware don't support. Will u please let him to install that s/w and run it on u'r com?"
If it is securable, installation will occure and let it run on o/s.
An o/s needs 2 things. (Tananboub book)
1. a resource allocator
2. Extended machine
This is definitely an operating system.

Hi just an update on zimdesk we have added a beta Instant messaging service to zimdesk with access to 8 networks we will be adding VOIP and phone services in the near future as well as a complete update to our present apps and desktop.

not many Operating Systems online seems to support any type of accounting or taxation softwares. a unique one that i found was edeskonline.com. Has anyone done a comparison on its features?

Oh, and you can create/install completely new apps/widgets yourself using the Kreate application directly from the desktop.

The webOS is an inevitable consequence of the coming of age of Web 2.0, with the growth of web applications and the maturation of high speed internet we can now have a truly portable and personalised OS, at the moment many of these are really just portals for disparate web apps, but soon we will see communication between these apps with XML and SOAP leading the way.

Thanks for mentioning Zimdesk, we are only 5 weeks old but keep your eye on us, weâ€™ve got some surprises coming ïŠ

In the self hosted web-os category, there is also Weezo.
It does a good job to access remotely the stuff on your computer and allows to share same stuff with friends. Nice piece of sw.
