Back on to the topic of this post, I saw the Business 2.0 article too. Whenever I see that someone dropped $20k or so on a questionable site I get very curious.
I would not be suprised if a sham transaction was involved where a friend or associate of the site owner paid the money, and then was paid right back. Not hard to do, some even think this has gone on in the domain name industry. One offshore bank account or corporation and you can prove nothing.
Whatever sells and has interest from hundreds of thousands of users is grt I think ideas like this will be a hit for sure....
has anyone chked:

its like entire India 2.0 on 1 page!
So you bought virtual New York , then what?!!
On weblo forums, they are a bunch of nazis, whatever comments are written against weblo, are immediately erased and distroyed and the user is blocked. Seems like they only want to use the positive comments and flush out the bad ones. Like people who stated they bought a city and have made a mere 3.00 since.I made a mistake and going to move on.
If youre stupid enought to invest money into a second wikipedia, good luck!
I bought a FEW cities after a non related website sale. I was riding high. I must have been riding really high because weblo just blows.
There is no substance. It's like the owners built it and then said, oh shit, people are coming here? What should we do next. There is no apparent plan or direction. It is throwing shit against the wall to see who is sticks to.
Same concept but the day you buy a town there are no renewal fees.Allso You have the chance to make pay per click!

It is definitely said that the business model promotes stealing. They may be marketing a virtual world, but they create a real world problem for the rightful owners of intellectual property and registered owners that the advertise as being for sale in the weblo virtual world.
It is one thing to play a game, but to redirect traffic from the real owner of a website is just plain wrong.
Yes like the mehul said, "If you built anything good ..." weblo.com will steal it for weblo's financial gain.
