If there are people that buy WOW or Diablo items there might be people that acquire virtual property as well.
  • Ivan · 2 years ago
How about you actually link to Weblo rather than to an article about them?
  • Shawn · 2 years ago
can you say EXIT strategy!!!!! this on line virtual real estate is beanie babies all over again. At least when it's all said and done you can burn your beanies to keep warm.
  • Donny Backstreet · 2 years ago
I want to virtually sell you a bridge you can jump off. FOOLS!!!!
  • Trademark Police · 2 years ago
Aren't there going to be trademark issues with this? For instance on their homepage they are selling property for beavis and butthead and ludacris. I'm pretty sure you can't appropriate a celebrity's likeness without their permission for monetary gain.
  • Andrew Johnson · 2 years ago
Trademark policies? You bet. There are a lot of amateur Web 2.0 companies that are just ignoring it completely because they are just that -- amateurs. How many *spaces are there? I've seen many posts of sites right here on Mashable which wouldn't stand up to a single C&D letter.

Back on to the topic of this post, I saw the Business 2.0 article too. Whenever I see that someone dropped $20k or so on a questionable site I get very curious.

I would not be suprised if a sham transaction was involved where a friend or associate of the site owner paid the money, and then was paid right back. Not hard to do, some even think this has gone on in the domain name industry. One offshore bank account or corporation and you can prove nothing.

peoples can complain as much as they can...But no bank's give me so much money this fast for the small amount I invest in Weblo...I prefer to own a web page then play some stupid second life sims city kind of game....
  • Mehul Patel · 2 years ago
Rick I agree with you, its the ease of using Weblo which is fun, its quite addictive for sure and even if 100k users are active on it, its a grt market place.....

"We Blow"? Who thought up the name?
  • Sammy · 2 years ago
I heard from an insider that they paid some of the people to buy properties. Also they make up their own PR just to hipe the site. As someone has said. If you want to buy Air, I got lots to sell you. Don't waste your time or money it's worthless, or at least will be when something else comes along.
  • Adel · 2 years ago
I tried it for a couple of months, at the beginning its fun, but it get boring so fast,
So you bought virtual New York , then what?!!
On weblo forums, they are a bunch of nazis, whatever comments are written against weblo, are immediately erased and distroyed and the user is blocked. Seems like they only want to use the positive comments and flush out the bad ones. Like people who stated they bought a city and have made a mere 3.00 since.I made a mistake and going to move on.
If youre stupid enought to invest money into a second wikipedia, good luck!
  • weblo totally blows · 2 years ago
Weblo is a retarded attempt at a social networking site. Have you seen the interface? It is supposed to be about the world, yet the navigation is so convoluted and there is not a globe to be seen.

I bought a FEW cities after a non related website sale. I was riding high. I must have been riding really high because weblo just blows.

There is no substance. It's like the owners built it and then said, oh shit, people are coming here? What should we do next. There is no apparent plan or direction. It is throwing shit against the wall to see who is sticks to.
  • pari · 2 years ago
I think weblo is good idea but there seems to be lot of work to be done to keep the interest of the user. On the other hand the owners have to put some effort to add content to make the asset page more interesting and worth visiting. So I would say if I have few assets which I can manage and keep updated then I will have fun as well other will have something to enjoy and read as well.

Weblo's services blow. After pumping in funds to my account to make purchases, I bought several domains and one property, then all of a sudden the features stopped working. I'd locate an available name or property and go through all the hoops, then it would tell me congratulations...but 0 properties in my account. There is NO help or assistance whatsoever. Should they rename it WeBlow?

Unfortunately weblo.com is taking away the rights of those that have registered domains in the "real world" as well as content from websites that they do not own.

It is definitely said that the business model promotes stealing. They may be marketing a virtual world, but they create a real world problem for the rightful owners of intellectual property and registered owners that the advertise as being for sale in the weblo virtual world.

It is one thing to play a game, but to redirect traffic from the real owner of a website is just plain wrong.

Yes like the mehul said, "If you built anything good ..." weblo.com will steal it for weblo's financial gain.
  • dns340 · 1 year ago
amnotamouse don't be worried about your real world domains i have several hundred they will take care of them selves, if you want to hedge go buy the same thing at weblo.I am dns340 on weblo love it and my advice to you is get in while it is cheap, thanks
