This only seems to be the case for half of the search results, the other half I can watch no problem. Hmmmm....

Yeah, I played around with that, too. They received a DMCA from Comedy Central, so in theory they should have nuked the lot. One strong pattern I noticed was clip length - the clips that were taken down tend to be the longer ones (more than 1 minute). A 4 second clip is probably fair use, and hence will stay on the site.
Anyway, you're really putting out some great, well-researched posts at the moment. Putting Mashable to shame (but I love reading them!). I appreciate how much effort those things take, so much respect. ;)
