Banned? Are you kidding? I mean, we are talking about a 2.0 world. A) This is a harmless app, nothing else. B) Banning cannot be an answer. C) Beer applications aren't banned as well. It's just a little app. Nothing else.

I don't see why the app store should be subjected to a higher level of censorship than the rest of iTunes. Apple has age restriction rules in place for adult content for songs/movies they sell on iTunes, they should use the same system for apps.

Good points about freedom of choice, people being adults, etc. Myself, this kind of app is just useless, and uselessness is dumb and pointless, whether its an iPhone app or anything else. Same with all the iPhone fart apps; stupid and useless, not even really fun or amusing, unless you're 7.

I'm tired of people parenting grown ups. If someone wants to smoke, they should and everyone else should mind their own business instead of having a hissy fit over a person's choice of smoking. It's not like someone's putting a gun to your head and telling you to download this app.

Apple wasn't "flip flopping" per se. They made it clear that they originally rejected a series of apps because they didn't have the appropriate genres to categorize them in. They even notified app owners that they would be given another opportunity in the future. Now that they have the new categories in place, the app makers were urged to resubmit.

As for whether it should be "banned" (which it never was, it was temporarily rejected for other issues not related to censoring), I'd like to know on what grounds one would argue that case.
