I want to meet that one person who:

- Is quietly giving the finger to social networks, widgets, and news aggregators as we know them
- Has a brilliantly back-asswards take on social communities and tools
- Is torn between whether or not the idea is complete hubris or utter genius
- Defaults toward the latter
- And obsesses about it
- Day and night
- While understanding that it won't cure cancer or eradicate war
- Listens more than talks
- Watches more than showboats
- Wants to build something of consequence and ride the wave, with all its risk
- Instead of looking for the quick flip
- Answers the question, "Who will buy you?" with a blank stare
- Skips half of the brown-box lunch period to scribble down notes to self
- Takes Muni home
- Calls a family member
- Obsesses and works all night

I wanna go, with eyes wide open, and find this person.

I just know this person will be there.

I simply want to meet Pete Cashmore, Michael Arrington, Robert Scoble and all the usual suspects when they were all eager budding Web 2.0 gurus before they became famous. And I want to meet them in today's climate, this month, 2008, right now, as if they were in that embryonic state confronting today technologies.

I want to meet 18 year old Pete Cashmore trying to make it today right now without any of his accomplishments. And I wan to see how all of these individuals would express themselves and make the most out of this conference to promote themselves, learn and make connections.

In essence, I want to learn how they would take advantage of this conference being who they are without all the fame, experience and connections!

I'd like to meet the next Zuckerberg, Page, or Brin. These expos are meant as a place to explore and share new ideas, sure, it'd be interesting to talk to a big shot, but the real treasures are the undiscovered stars of tomorrow's internet landscape.

I would like to meet Tim O'Reilly and Mark Zuckerberg -- both guys who founded what can be thought of as revolutionary publishing empires. I'm a producer/journalist at a newspaper site in Orlando. Declining revenues at news operations in the United States means serious trouble for journalism, and I'm desperately seeking ideas and inspiration to bring a renaissance in reporting that benefits the public. If meeting these guys could create an idea that sparks possibility for the future, it'd all be worthwhile. I would also love the chance to bring my journalist's point of view to the conference and perhaps spark ideas in others.

Out of 10.000+ people I would definately love to meet with the father of Web 2.0, Tim O`Reilly, to ask him when Mobile 2.0 and Web 2.0 will blend into one new and cool Webile 3.0 and what users would get out of it. And if Tim is not there, I would always love to meet with Pete again and do another great interview with him like we did at SXSW.

Kevin Rose and/or Leo Laporte - it's because of the these two guys that I really know anything about web 2.0 to begin with. I am way outside the demographic (by a long shot - first, I am female and second, I am old enough to be Kevin's mom)for listening to the Digg podcast, but it's Digg I check every day for news and stories. Though, I'm not sure I like the direction it seems to be taking. Then, I love Leo - what else can I say (besides I really, really want to go, that is)!

The passionate person. I want to meet the person who thinks outside the box. Who gets what social media is all about and knows how to use it. I want this person to inspire me, the community and the industry. This person can help me become better using social media and the thousands of tools out there. If I won the tickets to Web 2.0. I'd want to find this person and learn from them.

There is not just one single person I would want to meet. Yes, talking to Scoble, Arrington (If he goes), Cashmore, or anyone up there making this industry great would be an amazing and insightful experience, but I think it's more about getting in the show as a whole.

There are so many people, opinions, products, and cool ideas floating around that I would rather make my focus discovery then having a good solid one-on-one talk with someone else. Sounds lame? Perhaps, but I know in such an event like this where there are so many people and ideas, I would rather capture all of that, and then hope that on a future date, in a smaller setting I can meet some of the more influential people in the business.

That's my take :)

.....or just Leo Laporte (screensavers ftw)....meeting him would be a dream...I should stop kidding myself though
