But the name- Goldstein usually stirs my blood. I wonder if someone also remembers that character from THE MINISTRY OF TRUTH in Orwell's novel "1984"?
As for Lijit - I enjoyed the idea, it should be very comfortable.
need me? my space:
http://www.edenfantasys.com/

Re: Lijit Funded, Partners With Feedburner

Per Stan's comment, is lijit partnering with Wink who claims to have trademarked PeopleRank? http://wink.com/wink/about

Also Stan, what's up with all that SEX in your personal tagcloud? http://www.lijit.com/users/... - kinda creepy if you ask me.

Re: Lijit Funded, Partners With Feedburner

Peter, I think you missed out on Lijit's ability to overlay useful information in your Google search results, based on your network. Social effects as represented in the Lijit network ultimately affect the way you consume information. Attention-filtering with consideration of your social network works surprisingly well when consuming lots and lots of information (e.g., web browsing).

I think Lijit could do, and is in a position to do, many more useful things with the network data. Filtering, prioritizing, and sorting information can extend far beyond search (e.g., to the newsreader).

Re: Lijit Funded, Partners With Feedburner

Peter, thanks for checking us out! Handy is good, but I think that person-centered search could really be a storm after all-- In the real world, you search for information by going to a trusted expert ("What car should I buy? Who's a good lawyer? How do I install this software?") ...so why should the online world be so different? With everyone generating so much content these days, plus everyone linking together in networks, it's only natural for there to be vertical search that is centered on a person.

We've got a lot more stuff coming up too. Most importantly, we'll recommend experts on topics based on your search. (We call it People Rank.)

And thanks for the correction...folks around here were beginning to ask for some BIG pay increases! :)

-stan

Re: Lijit Funded, Partners With Feedburner

$900k in funding for this? Wow. Talk about a bad investment.

Re: Lijit Funded, Partners With Feedburner

Peter, thank you for mentioning Ziki. Ziki is also for people who produce content and want to promote it. Soon we will be introducing an interface where members can enter their own keywords and manage their own advertising campaigns.
And we are self funded :)

Re: Lijit Funded, Partners With Feedburner

Haha. Yeah, typo. Funny one though. My brain doesn't compute figures less than $1M. ;)

Re: Lijit Funded, Partners With Feedburner

From the lijit.com website:

Lijit Networks, Inc. announced today that it has secured over $900K in funding from an investment syndicate including Colorado Fund I, managed by High Country Venture; Brad Feld, Managing Director of Foundry Group; Seth Goldstein, co-founder of AttentionTrust.org, Majestic Research and ROOT Markets; and Paul Berberian, former CEO of Raindance Communications. The syndicate is rounded out by investments from Lijit’s management team and other influential, Colorado- and nationally-based angel investors.

Just a typo.

Re: Lijit Funded, Partners With Feedburner

Yeah Right? I thought the same thing... then I thought, even $90 million sounds like WAY too much. I'm thinking this funding is off by $891 million.

Re: Lijit Funded, Partners With Feedburner

That's got to be a typo... $900 million?
