Paisano, as a fellow ambassador you know I lover Utterli, but I'm greatly underwhelmed by this desktop app. You point out some of the reasons, the inability to record audio or video from the app, the need to type in user names, etc. Those are big drawbacks for me. But even the presentation of text-based Utters in the application is lacking. Line breaks are presented with too much space and it makes reading very difficult, unless you expand the app to a ridiculous size. At this point, I'm probably going to stick to the web. Besides, It's really not that big of a deal to open a web page. :)

I've been rethinking my stance on any desktop app these days. You're right about browsers being no big deal anymore to open. I think the only advantage that these desktop apps have over the browser is the ability to let you use a service offline in cache mode which then syncs whatever you've done once you're connected again. But let's be honest, with the proliferation of WIFI hotspots and AirCards how often are we actually "offline"? On a plane? In the desert?

Still, I guess we all like new toys. As I mentioned in the review, this is extremely new and raw so we need to cut them some slack. It's all part of the process of e-volution. First crawl, then baby steps, walk then run....then IPO....rince, lather, repeat... as the saying goes down the valley.

it would seem to be a nice start but not quite ready for prime time. A definitely like the Utterz Service, but until this has the ability to upload audio, video, and pictures not to mention select contacts and groups if not maybe something values a lot for creating messages. I might use it for listening to audio utterz, like I would if I were calling in from a cell phone.

Again a nice start but not quite there yet. :-)
