I personally love this new website called SweetLuck. I was told about it by a friend of mine who is currently on it. I have to hand it to the guys that came up with the concept. The website is extremely well put together, but the only thing is that could really get addicted to being on the site. It is like a social networking site mixed with online dating, I think it rocks!

I think there's something to be said for there being more commited people at a pay site, but you have to get the balance right. Some of the prices at the traditional dating sites seem unsustainable after the rise of the social networks.

Hats off to Marcus. I think a lot of negative comments about him in blogs are driven by envy more than anything else.

I don't get this quote:

Huh?

So, he works 10 hours daily? I thought it was 2 hours. Or, maybe he claims 10 minutes?

Like anything, you get what you pay for ;) The real stats that should be published are the demographics. MySpace and Facebook members are totally different. Would you use PoF, Match or Yahoo to find a date/relationship?

The site is a 90's eye sore IMHO. But hats off to Markus for making money! Hopefully his success will force other dating sites to lower their pricing.

Completely agree, Kristen, the site is mostly full of scum. The appeal of Plenty of Fish is, from what I can see, purely the no-cost factor. I see value in a nice balance of quality and quantity, which this site does not have, as you mentioned.

So why are there normal people on it? Those who feel that, because it is free, it may be worth it to go through all the garbage to find that one, rare, diamond.

My opinion - if you're going to look for a partner online, it may be better to go with a pay site. At least you know the other person was committed enough to fork over a couple of bucks, that's a start.
