As for LinkedIn, I have no idea as I am not associated with them in any way. Looks like I have to join yet another social web site.
2) A smoother system of confirming the relationship (like Facebook).
3) The ability to communicate with your network through opt-in e-mails - not just questions for employment.
4) The ability to put your picture or logo on it, if you want to (yes, this ISN'T Western business practice, but it IS part of online personal branding - get over it).
5) The ability to create communities or social networks (the present system is chaotic and useless within LinkedIn).
6) DON'T follow Facebook and create a platform to accommodate a bunch of useless, cute "I'm happy today/I'm sad today" apps. Let Facebook exist for the social and LinkedIn exist for the professional.
'Nuff said.
I'd like to see a LinkedIn Answers that goes beyond what they have now. Why not create a Yahoo-like system where good answers to professional questions are rewarded? In other words, give it a reputation system.
Along those lines, why not tie LinkedIn to one of the current reputation systems?
From there, maybe tie in the ability to modify the interface ala Ning and add components... including Flickr feeds. There are people with portfolios (like me) who would like to show some work.
etc etc etc
1) Tag your contacts
2) Recommend RSS feeds to your contacts
3) Upload podcasts
4) Track who's viewed your profile
5) Matching of people based on professional interests
This is already possible, though you need to update your account to see all the information.
Linkedin feels stale, but I have to agree with Gal that Linkedin is aiming for a different market than Facebook, which is they way I want it to be (I'm a user of both).
i would say it need a even more detailed differentiation from all social networks, i do had very specific idea on it while i was checking it out..
so Reid, call me.. :P
I do think a lot of smart business tools could be built on the linkedin network. Just a matter of making the most of them.
